Everton FC, Nil Satis Nisi Optimum ... that comes before being a nice guy, remember that Moshiri ;)
Interesting fact though, Everton have won all the major trophies I've seen with what appeared to be very a nice person in charge. Harvey was probably nicer than them both obviously but both were much nicer than Smith and Moyes from the sound of it.
Catterick sounds like he may not have been well liked at all.
Anyway point is that Mourinho, a lot of peoples dream manager, doesn't feel the need to be nice but he's very much about his own fragile ego. Are we sure that's what's needed?
I don't even think Martinez is overly nice.

There is one thing you have missed out....the fans.
Do you really want to send ten of thousands of Everton fans down to Wembley, out of pocket big style, who both the fans and the players have no confidence in the current manger?

I would prefer our fans and players to go down to Wembley with hope and a smile on there face before we play that game which means getting rid of the manager and letting sheedy/unsworth/etc lead the team out at Wembley.
yes mate, my sentiments is just that. 40,000 everton fans (or whatever the greedy bar stools down south want to give us) behind Joe Royle or the same behind martinez after anyhting between 1-3 defeats (because we are going to lose one of the next three) and the morale is low.

Joe royle may not be the manager he was 20 years ago and i dont expect him to be. But until that semi final is played, martinez could win the game for us, or lose it. I am just suggesting royle for a short term just for the fact i would back him more right now. Its not going to happen and i am not suggesting it will do, from my own preference it would make any chance of winning the cup much more sweeter to win it with a legend in charge rather than a manager who will be sacked before 2017.

From what I've seen they are massively motivated in cup games and possibly complacent in the league as a result.
That's what I used to think but this run we are on is worrying. There's no crystal ball to say we are going to turn up for the semi so all we can go on is this recent run.
Also if the players were motivated enough to win the semi then I would look at this as them playing for themselves in the cup rather than playing for the manager in every game. Surely not a good sign.

Whether or not he stays until the end of the season will depend on just how bad the atmosphere has become at FF.

If there's open revolt and the senior pro's have made their feelings known to the likes of Kenwright (and I would think he's liable to have asked the question either directly on the QT or via a minion) then the view might be that it's in the best interests of the club to down him now.

If everything behind the scenes is still cordial then I'm sure there won't be any change until the season is reviewed in May.

You want us to lose?

Did I not say in my response "well I do". If you read the post to which that was a reply you will see I want the team to win as always no matter who the manager is.

From me saying it will be a difficult game how do you interpret that as wanting to lose, that baffles me. I was just pointing it was not a walkover.

I've had enough of him. I feel sorry for him because he's a likeable character but we are just going through the motions. Regardless if we have a new manager or he stays the players and fans will be up for the cup at Wembley. If they aren't then we deserve to lose. I would probably be up for a caretaker manager to take over after tonight's defeat. The last few games have made my mind up. Never felt so indifferent.

there would defo be a greater sense of optimism if this were to happen - which of course it wont

No matter what happens tonight he'll still be here tomorrow ... he won't get sacked even if we get beat 5-0 tonight. Thats just my opinion btw, with a semi final coming up I don't think our board has the balls to do it and will either re assess after the semi final or at the end of the season. Cant see any major changes happening until the summer.

Theres no fight, no motivation, no ambition, the players look like a scene from The Walking Dead, it's frightening to watch at the minute. I hope Moshiri has a back bone and does the deed sooner rather later. He's a successful business man so I'm sure he's already thinking/got something planned. Surely from his point of view, if we got a new manager in (Mourinho as an example) you'd see a massive rise in season ticket sales, huge optimism around the place, the players would be up for it, the crowd would be up for it and it sends a huge message out to everyone else that we mean business and want to get back were we belong.

If we got done 5-0 tonight even dave and oldblue will be on here calling for his head.

Hmmm massively motivated in the cup i think is a massive overstating of things, we managed 2 shots on target against Chelsea mate (I'm not counting the throughball that Courtios reached before Lukaku as one unlike the BBC), we played ultra defensively against a Chelsea team that has been crap this season and who had just had their confidence shattered 3 days earleir by getting dumped out the CL, and honestly the difference in the game was a width of a post with Costa and a moment of individual brilliance from Lukaku

Besides this - what game in the cup have we been really motivated in exactly?

Counting the fact nearly every team we have played including Boro, Norwich, Bournemouth and a couple of other lower league teams have made a whole host of changes and rested 5-7 starting first team players when they played us.

We have scraped past Barnsley (extra time)
Rested players against a lower division side in Reading and where absolutely appaling and needed to bring on 3 first teamewrs to rescue the game
Needed pens to get past a Norwich reserve side (who deserved that game)
Beat a boro reserves side who made about 9 changes
Effectively was winning at half time against city (first leg) but got battered second half and knocked out (away leg)
Beat Dag & Red and Carlisle handily - hardly stuff to inspire though
Beat a Borunemouth reserves side 2-0 with our strongest 11

Exactly how the team has had to show any amount of 'massive motivation' to produce these results i would love to hear?
