Every time I read his BS I laugh a little bit more. How the hell can he say he's going to do what he's been doing for the past 7 years, does he not realise that he's failed on the majority. He must be actually see a different game from tens of thousands of people.

If that statement he said yesterday does not ring alarm bells in the higher hierarchy then I fear for this club, it proves his stubbornness and it's very alarming

Agreed. It,s strange at the moment - the media have finally started asking hard questions in the manager,s press conferences and the fan base has shifted focus from the manager to the hierarchy of the club looking for leadership and direction.

There is no chance of our new shareholder and board representative backing the current situation at Everton, change is afoot.

Indeed that is the top and bottom of it.
I bet there have been some very interesting meetings and calls between the new shareholder/representative and the outgoing old guard still on the board.

i know it won't happen but a loss tonight and martinez should be sacked tomorrow. I would have no confidence in him going forward if we fail to beat palace.

That is the best case scenario for me, sack him and put ferguson and Royle in charge for the rest of the season. I don't believe they will turn our fortunes around to a massive extent, Royle been out of the game far too long to be a fantastic manager again and ferguson who knows.

But take a royle and ferguson team into the derby alone, with blues such as baines / jags / barkley in the team we may just go there with a different outlook compared to now. and a derby win with a semi final a few days later with a little bit of everton spirit throughout the team.....who knows?

Martinez gave Browning game time because it was obvious to all and sundry that Stones couldn´t play right back and he hadn´t signed any reserve right back. This thing about Martinez and young players is one of the biggest myths in football. He´s played two players who are generally regarded as among the biggest talents of their generation, both are England internationals and were already in the first team squad when he arrived. Do people really think that if Bobby hadn´t turned up that they weren´t going to develop as players? Beyond that he´s given practically no opportunities to our young players in three years. Meanwhile Van Gaal has played a huge number of youth players and Klopp who´s been at Liverpool for five minutes played two youth team players against Stoke the other day. That´s taking a chance on youth the rest is just his absurd propaganda about this being a young team when it blatantly isn´t.
I think fans could stomach Martinez a lot more if he didn´t keep coming out with these blatant falsehoods.
This is one of the things that's annoyed me the most recently. Our U21s smashed Liverpool earlier this season, and yet our young players have got nowhere near the first team while Liverpool have been playing theirs, despite them also being higher up the league and us playing games against league 2 teams this season.

Why do we have to send our young players on about 3 loans before they're ready for a game at Everton? I guarantee Dowell won't get played this season despite him looking amazing in the U21 league and our league season being effectively over.

Serious question. Do you think having him in charge for the semi gives us our best possible chance of winning it? I'm not sure anymore.

Think he'll get Saturday even if we lose tonight but depending how sour it got at home then there is a possibility it could all be done and dusted by teatime.
Given the sharp downturn of the last few weeks (and we weren't starting from a high point!) I think the answer to that is that we'd have a better chance in the semi-final without him.

The calls for Ferguson to come in are bewildering.

Also, a loss against Palace would be worst-case as far as I'm concerned. If he wins the cup then he's here for another season, if not he's gone come June.

Our away form is 6th best in the league, which is on average around about where we finished with Moyes. So our away form is pretty good. The season doesn't start at the end of September.

....this is part of the problem for me with RM, and with the club as a whole at times TBH - (and this isn't a criticism of you by the way E, not by any stretch, your post just made me think on how much he talks up the away form) - words like 'acceptable', 'respectable', all that...

We need to look at what that really means - words like this that are 'oft bandied about in relation to our club - and it means 'average'. That's all. Just that. And he's happy with 'average', RM is. He thinks he achieves with 'average'. It's the norm and as a fanbase we have, over time, become WELL conditioned to simply accepting that without question....

'We are EVERTON...and we are...well, average really I suppose, we're average and happy with our lot...'

But the MOSH involvement changes the tide on that, for the first time since the 80's really. And we need to learn to aim higher than average now. He certainly will. I was very flippant (being an arse) in a post last night describing him as 'the ninja on the roof, biding his time'. But that's pretty much what's happening. He was never gonna come in, shake the tree and watch the coconuts roll. But after an alleged (definite) 14-18 months or so watching on then, well, if you think he's gonna accept mediocrity on a potential MASSIVE personal investment then you're mad...and you may have taken a knock. On the head. Possibly with a coconut.

Don't think the MOSH does 'average'. We have a manager that DOES do 'average'.

In fact it seems that's all he really knows.

So, I reckon we should all start learning to aim a bit higher than that because it feels like such a long time since we did doesn't it?

I agree with some bits mate - just I'm not into joe royle for some reason as interim but if Ferguson/ and him then do get it he can always prove me wrong and win us games lol

I agree and I think the answer is that Martinez for all his talk is a very conservative manager in his approach to young players.

I think it's a case of nobody could do a worse job
