Lets see how many fans Martinez has after the Derby in two weeks
I'm hiding in a nuclear bunker for 3 hours while that game is on

Would you say that if this same result had happened earlier in the season the reaction would be softer, since there was still a hypothetical "whole season" yet to play?
Makes sense if so. Hypothetical Everton were really good, weren't they? ....![]()
As much as he can be, like...Baines is one of us but is he really.
He a millionaire who get paid for playing in an Everton shirt. I'm a massive fan of the lad before someone get on my back.
Fourteenth was never acceptable but understandable with the likes of Scot Gemmill, Alessandro Pistone and Paul Gerrard in the side. But fourteenth with Romelu Lukaku, Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley is a complete and utter disgrace. No excuse for Martinez.
His style of football might go down well in Spain overall tbh. Probably some team would want him, like...He needs to go. Wish him only the best, gave us a hope for more than a year. But sadly he is totally deluded and has no idea how to turn it around for more than 20 months. Hopefully Spain will want him to replace del Bosque over Benitez, so we don't have to sack him as I am not sure Kenwright will sack him even if majority of fans want him out. Would save us money too.
Can't argue with you on most parts but that Villa game was abit different in my eyes. I went myself and although we conceded (Oviedo? injured, cross came from that side) we didn't deserve to concede (or to put it better, Villa didn't deserve to score). And when they did, they had one extra chance after that and that was it. We looked like we could score at any point in that game, just took the foot off the gas at 0-3.I'll answer in here mate, cos it's more general than just today.
In all honesty, today's result wasn't that bad. The reaction is more down to a couple of seasons underperformance in the league. Add to that two lifeless performances against Arsenal and United and the utterly bizarre stuff Martinez said about Baines, and it all now looks pretty desperate.
For me, standing at Villa Park the other week when we conceded to go 3-1 down and seeing both team and fans panicking about holding onto that lead against the poorest side in the Premier League was pretty much it. At that point, I knew we weren't going to fulfill our potential under Martinez. Without a change at board level, we might have just been stuck with that, but, thankfully for the long term future of the club, both on and off the pitch, I don't believe mediocrity will be settled for any more.
As far as the poll goes on this thread, I'm still officially on the fence, but, even if win the cup under Martinez, there's no doubt in my mind that he needs replacing come the end of the season. At that point, I will wish him well. He's neither, as is sometimes said here, arrogant or a fraud, he's just not as good as a manager as I, and many others, thought he was, and we can do better.
You've just written 3 beautifully worded paragraphs explaining your views brilliantly, and then I read this out of nowhere not expecting it coming....based on the rest of your post.I'll answer in here mate, cos it's more general than just today.

really well put mate. I agree. I don't dislike Martinez as a person either (quite like him actually) but my confidence in him as manager is incredibly low.I'll answer in here mate, cos it's more general than just today.

Someone said that earlier and it's really true - he can probably charm a snake if he tried... but he's not a good manager. We are so soft under the apparent pressure of being ahead.
Imagine if we score first at Wembley, can you genuinely see the team as it is now standing a decent chance of guarding that advantage?
for me gone at the end of the season.
League position shows how consistently you can win across the course of a season. Bottom half, let alone nearly bottom quarter, is appalling with the talent we have.

I remember that game when they scored one back and I thought "aah ****, here it comes"
I've been on the out side for a while tbh. Only at the end of the season with a favourable alternative though.
