think the semi is confusing matters, wonder if board think sacking a manger who is still in a semi(and haven't won a trophy since 1995) being bad PR?

This wont go down well.
Baines pretty much gave up his dream move (at the time) to UTD out of respect for loyalty to the club, Bill Kenwright and the new manager at the time, Martinez. Yes he got rewarded with a contract but he didn't have too stay. He could have forced the move.

I would be absolutely fuming if I was Baines. To be thrown under the bus like this is unacceptable, especially as he has been playing through pain for the manager and team this year.

Bill wont like this at all to be fair; the players love Bill and he loves the players.

I said at the beginning of the week, its the beginning of the end for Martinez. This is him in self preservation mode.

Simply pathetic behaviour to have one of your most senior, respected, well liked professionals apologise for press comments. Does Rom and Kev apologise every time they come back from Belgium?

The dressing room will feel this as will the board room.

from the 90's yeah. but i never really expected us to win anything under him because i don't think he has "it" to win anything major. i have higher expectations of martinez to be honest, i expect this manager and squad to win things. everyone's different i suppose.

Fair enough.

Anyone. Doesn't really matter - performances are so bad that they can hardly get worse, and the odds of a cup win won't change regardless. If anything, they'd improve as the players will be free to play without this idiot in charge.

Personally, Dunc would do. Not saying he'd be a good manager, far from it, but it'd do till the season ends and we can bring in a proper manager.

Completely agree.

Getting rid now and getting a caretaker in would signal to any potential replacement that times have changed and little old Everton aren't happy with a couple of relatively easy cup runs

Duncan Ferguson's coaching career has been spent with Martinez. What's the point in replacing Martinez with someone who has no experience in managing, the only experience he has is from the person you despise?

I don't despise Martinez; I just think he's not qualified for the role he's in at this level.

The point would be to get rid of a manager who is now totally finished. I don't care really what Ferguson does do, because he won't be given the role permanently regardless - what matters if making sure we're sending the message that the performance and actions of Martinez are absolutely not acceptable for a club of our stature.

You've still got to beat whoever you get in the draw, whether that be Carlisle or the current PL champions. Let's all blame Martinez for who we get in the FA Cup draw though.

Because the performances have improved. We've been outplayed about 3 times all season, City, Arsenal and United. All the rest we've been in the game and we all know we should have more points than what we have - finishing chances, leads slipping, bad ref decisions. But it's the fact that we've been going into games this season (baring the last 2) with a belief that we can score whenever we want and take all 3 points. I'm basing it on the signs that are there, there has been an improvement from last season (remember Hull away?) and when we've clicked this season we've looked great there is no denying that. So I'm willing to give him a little bit longer to get it to click a lot more.
We must be attending different matches. We go into games not expecting to win, or if we conceed we'll likely collapse. How will Martinez improve the defence?

It seems like you are taking this the wrong way

Nobody really despises him but are looking at the results and saying it's not good enough

It's not personal
