Am I the only person on here who does not live in a world of suspended reality? I cannot see how this turns around. We are not playing great and losing because of one off errors or bad refereeing. We are just not playing. where does the turnaround come from that sees us run out winners against WHU or MU in the Semi - what change will effected that makes the players slam the shoite at the pit? What will change to see us scoring more than we concede at Watford and Palace?
Vault me and throw it back at me if the above turns out the other way. I would love so much to be wrong about this but it seems there is no plan B, ever.

Think that's fair enough. If we stopped blaming him for everything we may even get to a clear idea of what might happen.
Certainly think the board will have been looking at it from the perspective of the club having a big opportunity and whether we will we be further down the line in a couple of seasons if Martinez stays. A lot of this will have already gone on and I doubt recent results matter to them. I presume they've looked at who he's brought in, their potential values to the club and in the market. And they'll have looked at a lot of things we probably don't know much about in terms of whether we are going in the right direction throughout the club.
He's come from Arsenal so will be used to fan unrest and the pros and cons of management stability.
Personally I think Martinez will be gone in the next two seasons regardless of how well we do. But I reckon it'll be a quiet, mutually agreed affair with the next manager having been carefully selected even with some input from Martinez.

My thinking is that Martinez will be given money this summer and with a specific mandate of player type to sign for bigger amounts (similar to how he has been buying already a group of u25 players). I think Moshiri will have taken advice on the values of players bought in as well and see a mini-Wenger approach.

Then i think the target next season will be top 6. Less than that like 7th would be accepted as long as we reached Europe....otherwise hes sacked.

Following season a push for top 4 after a couple of larger signings as cherries on top of the team.

I keep harping on about the squad, but i really believe thst with a top keeper/central midfielder and left winger at the beginning of this season we would be far higher up the league. Now its apparent also that others have improved or regressed and we need more than just those 3 players.

Is it martinez fault he didnt bring these players in?perhaps but last summer he spent the money on Deulofeu, lennon and mori and this summer hes again playing catchup just the same as when distin went downhill.

He needs money to spend.

Think there's loads on here living in your reality. But I've chosen the reality that says things turn around for clubs and managers time and time again. Isn't the debate about whether they will? Seems a fair enough reality to live in to me

What makes you think it will turn around? Genuine question? Nothing in Martinez's history shows anything will change.

I actually disagree that the problems we have need to have money thrown at them. Yes, we need a new goalkeeper but apart from that I'm absolutely convinced someone could get this team playing really well, in the upper echelons of the table.

I don't think it's about buying new players, he's got to get the players we currently have winning games on a regular basis.

I didn't say the first part of the bold bit and you've just fabricated the second sentence. No ones got the power to make Moshiri do anything, I certainly won't be claiming I influenced him, what a bizarre accusation to make.

My general point is that I don't see why Evertonians unhappy with an aspect of the club and chose to vocalise it should be derided.

So why bother starting, or signing, a petition that will achieve nothing?

There's no way he's getting big money if he's on some sort of probation. If he spends big in the summer then he's here for the long haul. In fact if he spends anything in the summer then he's going nowhere. Personally think he won't be here though.

Chelsea / Arsenal / Spurs / Man City /Man Utd for me are going to be the top 5 unless someone has an amazing season (leicester/west ham).

Its not even about net spend with them as they have either spent a fortune or they have a stable group of players.

My thinking is purely on the squad basis. If youre going to implement a style and vision it takes time or less time but more money.

I like what Martinez represents, i like the signings he makes and id like to see him improve a few positions before i judge him.

I think thats a fair outlook.
Take out Man Utd right now but they will spend 200m happily and build one. Can't agree about the Manager now we have Mr Moshiri though. Go out and get the best.

Someone may be able to come in and get the team playing really well till the end of the season or even next season...could be top 6-8 i suppose.

However, it would be a different % based type of football needed. So for me id rather get in top players and play the way martinez wants.

I mean, we have no top CM, no LW and no GK before we even look at other positions.

He hasn't earned the right to spend big money in my opinion. As it stands he should be absolutely made up to start next season as our manager with a new goalkeeper.

Yep I think a long term strategy will have been discussed before they invested as well as issues in the short term. He's on trial probably but I doubt it's based on last few games or the next

...obv there'll be money available but I genuinely can't see BOB being the man on the spend. Anything less than a MASSIVE improv in what remains of the league and at very least a final appearance (though the semi is a big ask to plough through like) then I firmly believe he'll be wellied, sharpish...

Happy to be vaulted and eat a big slice of shame-pie if not, but I genuinely think it/he's beyond salvage now, sadly...
