Well if you think a discussion needs admissions and making stuff up then, well done. But I've used your list and said where I disagree and answered honestly. Nobody is on trial.
Well of course nobody is on trial, that's a really rather odd thing to say.

If you challenge my assertion that we've got 10 players of 'optimum age' and give your own figure, it seems only fair to question how you're coming to that conclusion. The fact that you failed to answer when replying suggested that you were conceding that you had been wrong, so there was no need for me to push it further, that's all.

Interesting points from Baines about chemistry. There is none whatsoever. What's the point of having the best left back in the country if no one passes to him in the final third. The issue as well is he can't play his way into form at the moment.
I thought for all of his average qualities, the one thing Cleverley would bring is his ability to get LB into the games.

I don't blame the manager for this UNTIL the end of the summer window.

We need winners and leaders, both of which cost a pretty penny. Any funds we've had have been used to bolster/replace ageing and players who don't fit the blue print. Thats fine, and perfectly forgivable, but we need some genuine, top quality players in at CM. Players who will give the current midfield and defence the rollicking they need when they try and beat the world on their own, maverick quest for stardom or alternatively passively go backwards.

It's the defining summer for RM. He needs to find a RB, 2 CMs, a left winger/playmaker, a CB and GK. He needs to rid the squad of deadwood.

I trust him to spend the cash well however I'm sure the rest of the Cult will agree with, with money in his pocket he has to find players, and rapidly, who will want to take us forward as a team, not just use us a way of taking their own careers forward.

I agree with Baines. There is no chemistry.
Give over lad, Martinez won't be here next season.

You said I admitted I made things up. Which is not a debate is it? If you go back and read it, it's consistent with what I think and you can agree or disagree but why suggest someone has made something up. Not sure I see the point

I've been reading this thread since the beginning, and I'm finding that most of the time I'm agreeing with Dave. Results have not been as good as they should be, but it takes time to build a team and it takes even longer to have that team play in a new way with confidence, particularly when you are a young manager with a specific plan. We have top rated defenders for every defensive position, and good defenders as back up...maybe we need a rock sitting in front of the back four or play three at the back(which is really five at the back when required). Our goal difference is in the top six in the league, and our main striker has scored for fun, and yet people say we are 'boring'....we are not boring, we are just lacking in some understanding and lacking at little luck, which will change.(Chelsea away, and others of our away games(only two lost all season)...convert just three of our many draws to wins and thats 6 more points for starters. We are not the only team who has underperformed...City, United, Chelsea have been poor, to name a few. The one thing supporters never have is patience. Lets see were we are this time next season, and make a judgement then.

I don't want to clog up the thread going over it mate, but yeah, I had asked you to clarify which 5 players you meant and you had failed to do so in 2 replies. I was saying that I wouldn't make the same point again because you seemed to be conceding that there weren't 5 players at all. If you'd named 5 then i'd have queried it because I don't see how any of those named could not fit the criteria, but you didn't. You named 3, and created a straw man argument about Moyes which wasn't related to what we were discussing.

I wasn't interrogating you or trying to put you down, i was just saying that I took your reluctance to answer as evidence that you didn't really believe only 5 of the 10 counted. That obviously gave you the option of saying, 'no, you're wrong - here's the players i mean.' But again, you haven't. So I don't really have any option but to believe you had never identified 5 in the first place, do i?

I will never forget Dave.

Without Dave to steady our nerves, GOT would have resembled an asylum in March 2014 :drunk:
Well let's plead with him to return as that Dave as appose to the current one.

He got Liverpool/Rodgers right he is getting Martinez/Evertonians (You lot) badly badly wrong.

Is RM still in charge?
We look more and more like Wigan and Aston Villa every week, twisting into the spiral of relegation.

I can't believe we have an FA cup semi final coming up and the board won't sack him in time. The club could rescue the season by getting a manager who can create team spirit, cohesion and drive to win together.

In fact, I no longer blame Martinez, he is inept enough to believe his own hype and not reality.
The board must act with decisiveness now, try to rescue the season and hopefully have a chance to keep our younger better players.

Nothing but the best is good enough.

Ok mate

I told you straight off the players I didn't include. Thought that would be easier. And don't remember being asked to clarify that. But ho hum.. it is all subjective and obviously we're back on point scoring so you're right let's not clog up the forum.
