Im still completely baffled by Roberto's comment about the dressing room boos. I can just imagine Hibbo stood in the corner booing loudly to drown out anything Brown Shoes had to say. What an utterly bizarre comment lol

In all seriousness tho it's the comment of a man losing the plot completely. I've been advocating a change of manager since around the stoke loss but to me it's becoming more and more abundantly clear that the players just aren't playing for him. It's getting a bit ridiculous now.

I haven't heard the actual comment he made, but my suspicion is that something got lost in translation or was misheard. Could it be he actually meant they could hear the boos from the terraces in the dressing room? If they could hear them - flippin' great!! Its about time he realised what is being served up is absolutely not good enough!

Poor performance today, Arsenal, we just did not show up. Last two seasons, it's just hasn't changed. Blah, blah, feckin' blah.

We all get it. Question is, what are you going to do about it? What's the poll here and Toffeweb, 70% Out. Seriously, you want him out, get up off feckin' asses and do something about it, if you care so much. Thought not. Not going to happen.

Take a pot shot at Davek all you want, all he's doing is telling you the truth. Our club has slid beneath your expectations for over twenty years. There's a reason Martinez still has a job and it has nothing to do with you. It has everything to do with the board, so save me your outrage and this includes the Mod's, Forum owners etc...with their sage wisdom, we've all stood by and watched this club fall of the precipice. Gnash your teeth all you want, Bottom line is, we've got the club we deserve. Unpalatable but true. You don't think Martinez is up for the job? Who hired him?
Kenwright...Go ahead, blame the cup manager, the Aunt Sally, the Popinjey. Keep telling yourself it has nothing to do with board.

Here's a question for you, you wan't to be a winning club? We're in the semi finals, get behind the team. It's not just the manager, players, it is the supporters too, I'm anti Martinez but I think it's a feckin' disgrace both major sites are having a poll. No manager in our history, period, has had to endure that on the verge of semi final in the FA Cup. Get a grip.

If we go out, sure you get the win button. Wear it with pride, personally there's a lot of Evertonian's out there who have never seen us win FA all. Wind ya neck in until the summer. We lost at home to Arsenal and away to United and we're 12th in the league. Let's all jump off Seaforth rocks cause that's never happened before.

Hold your fire, like it or not, this could be a season you reminisce with your kids about. And if Kenwright's gamble fails, you can tell your kids I told you so.

Probably something to do with the fact that we've only been in the Semi Finals of the FA Cup since this site has existed and at that point we weren't playing terrible football in the league.

There is nothing 'disgraceful' about having an opinion poll about whether the manager of Everton should be sacked or not. It's no different to discussing it in the pub.

Your post is a bit of a ramble anyway to be honest as you seem to be saying our failings have everything to do with the board, while also blaming fans and saying we 'deserve' the club we have. Last time I checked football fans have pretty much zero influence over the board.

Dave?
Like hell I'd tell them about how crap we were in the league, if we won a cup? Definitely.
Have you been the cup games? Evertonians have been behind the team and will be at the semi.
BTW are you saying Evertonians can't have opinions and are you REALLY having potshots at the site/moderation crew? Someone's been at the double expresso this morning...

Was a 0-0 at worst. Neither side conjured up much. Their goal was a mistake, granted, but jags was superb as was Stones. Baines' distribution at times looked like it was back on the money.

There is no doubt we are lacking confidence. We need wins in these next three games (obviously).

Great to see Deu back too.

Gaz Baz was a big miss, reinforcing the view by many that we desperately need reinforcements at CM.

It certainly wasn't a terrible performance, a typical Utd away performance if anything and one we have become accustomed to for the last 20-odd years.
Except we lost 1-0.

I cannot really see how much weight some minor Everton celebrity on twitter really has.

Ultimately this is how I see it.
Martinez has undeniably underachieved the last two seasons.
He did well in the first season, and there is some undeniable merit in some of what has happened during his tenure.
Notably these would be the development of Ross Barkley, trust in and recruitment of quality young players.
We have played some very good attacking football throughout this season.
There is a coherent programme in our youth football that has developed and been shown as successful during his tenure.
As a whole his transfer recruitment has been good.
We are a good side away.

However, there are a number of negatives he has shown little sign of fixing.
He has been unable to consistently organise a defence. While there is one off occasions where he has done so, we don't do it well enough on a consistent basis.
We have a massive mental fragility issue. While under Moyes we had an issue of being overly negative, under Martinez we show fragility on defending leads and conceding goals. Seemingly as soon as we are placed under pressure, we fold and concede goals in rapid concession.
We are not cynical enough when defending leads, we need to close out games. Manager 101, you don't win games if you cannot close out a lead.
The players also lack the mental strength to deal with when the fans get on their backs, and are prone to making mistakes as a result of lost focus. This is a hugely significant issue for me.
Fitness is also another concern, we seem to be unable to play 90 minutes without looking sluggish and tired 70 minutes into every game.

While some performances have been better than the results we have got, a manager is ultimately judged on the results that he gets.
He will need to win most of the games in the league, and win the cup to get the fanbase back on board.
A cup win might save his job till the summer but with Moshiri on board, who can tell. I think Bill's sentiment may still have a small amount of influence to temper Moshiri's business sense for a time.

I think there's always going to be a glass half empty and half full view of whatever happens for the foreseeable future.
Man u are not as formidable as they have been but it's still a squad that on paper should be competing for the title. The player considered our best by a lot of people three years ago is considered a liability there. And even when United were under the likes of Atkinson it was a really tough place to go and get anything. Still is this season. I nearly always feel we can win but never expect to at Old Trafford.
Every independent source has said we should have got something.
So to my eyes they didn't create anything because we were a lot more solid in the middle and at the back. We didn't give them space where we thought it would hurt us. And there was some great recovery play. One strange moment apart we were as good as we ever were under Moyes defensively.
Problem was that the one area that we usually thrive in we looked flat. This is an area we need to shake up. Our squad is still short of in depth quality, it was an ageing team three years ago and now it's inexperienced. It's being rebuilt and in my opinion and we won't be good enough under anybody to challenge until there are three or four more players at optimum age either coming through or bought.
Problem with analysing it in anyway now is that every bad result is lumped into an argument that says it's not good enough and it's Martinez causing it. The danger for me in doing this is you gloss over everything else. You create a mood of hostility towards one person that means nobody else needs to take responsibility. And you potentially undermine any positives.
If people on here can't point out what they saw yesterday, even when it fits pretty closely with what independents sources say without being told it's all the same excuses, then it doesn't feel healthy to me.
I'm happy to change the manager but when the mood generally is frustration I'm not sure it's ever the best time. I'd rather we were looking at it from the position that things need improving results wise and that needs adjustments all over the club but not huge changes. Maybe the manager might be one of the changes at some point but let's see if an ideal candidate emerges further down the line.

I'm completely done with him. Thinking of selling my semi ticket I'm that fed up. I can't see how he's gonna change now. He's 'tried' all season, and last, and it's getting worse if anything. Can't be arsed forking out hundreds of quids to go to Wembley and watch us get our arses handed to us.

40+ yrs I've been going the game. Home, away, Europe, pissing down cold winters nights at Plough Lane. I've done it all. I've never been this disheartened before.

Sort it booby. Last chance saloon is open.
Whether you get another drink is up to you...

If we win the next two games we could be 16th.

It was a weird one. Does he know what the word 'booing' means? I can't actually imagine them all literally sat there booing, as amusing as that is to think of

I was on the fence, now that you have appeared on the out side of it, I am joining you.

STOP RUINING OUR CLUB YOU IBERIAN GIMP!!!

They got it into the full back position, crossed, scored.

See United yesterday
West Ham (home)
Leicester (home)
West Brom (home)

it was an ageing team three years ago and now it's inexperienced.

Inexperience?

Yesterday you've got Lennon, Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Cleverley all in the side. McCarthy must have, what, 6 full seasons in the Premier League. Lukaku has three, much the same as Ross - and both have more than 20 international caps.

So really, you've got the captain of the Spanish U21s Del, John Stones and Robles. Or three of the 11.

Our squad is still short of in depth quality

Two things

  • He's not really using that squad to the maximum anyway making two subs a match - one in the last ten minutes when we are losing
  • Nobody is forcing him to spend £13.5m on an inexperienced player from the Russian league who, and let's be kind, is taking a fair amount of time to adapt
