Winning the cup is SUCCESS.

When you experience it you'll know the difference between that and top half finishes.
Do Wigan fans think that?

FA Cup win and relegation.
How about Portsmouth fans, FA Cup final and relegation?

The Cup is a lottery, to get to the semi final we have played teams not even in our league.

IF we win the cup, then it has no relation to how bad our league form has been.

A fella once said last season that he'd have no hiding place if he didn't have us comfortably in the top half this season...

I guarantee the response will include "21 years since" and "midtable", possibly "all about the cups"

It's unreal. How anyone can think about shooting the team and the manager in the foot going into the biggest game we've had since the 2009 cup final is beyond me.

These people are seriously out of control. It's a baying mob.

Bigger than the 2012 semi or the league cup semi earlier this season? Bigger than the games on the run in in 13/14?

It's one big game, you can holler about it all you want but we are in danger of becoming a Birmingham or Portsmouth or dare I say Wigan like club. One day in the sun at the price of being set back years. There seems to be common consensus that even if he wins the cup Roberto is not the man to take us forward. No one is saying they don't want to win the cup. What most are saying is 'thank you for the cup Roberto now on your way'.

Im actually finding it a mix of disturbing and amusing.

Totally illogical behaviour.

Dont win a cup for 21 years....get in League cup semi and were so close to getting to the final with 1/10th of the money compared to City (or lower) on the day. Zero Credit.

Now in the FA Cup semi and people want to implode the team....

Because we are mid table in the middle of a rebuilding process.

Posters last week saying they dont want to win the cup if it means martinez stays...we play to win trophies but they dont want a trophy but want a different manager.

Like i said, disturbing and amusing at the same time.

Midtable and at Wembley and some are talking about disgracing the club with a bedsheet protest.

You couldn't make it up.

The real issue here is that there's a massive difference between the way that objective people in the football industry view our position and the way a few hundred lost souls amongst our support who are whipped into a frenzy by forums feel about it.

No one's arsed about where we are because we are solidly placed and have a massive chance to make history. Any Geordie effort like that will just raise eyebrows.

Lol.

You can call it mid-table all you want dave. It's bottom half. And the only one in a frenzy is you.

It's understandable. Martinez bubble is burst. His time will come shortly and he's let you and your position down.

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night."

I wonder how long we'd have to remain in free fall for Dave to admit that Martinez is a bit naff. We've been at it for 5 months now and God only knows where we'd be without Lukaku, how much longer does it need to go on before you recognise that we're in 2016 not 2001 and that finishing in the bottom half isn't good enough, especially two seasons in a row?

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

The Geordiefication continues apace. Midtable and one hand on the cup and it's....

"Ahhh! Der meeja isn't listening to uz...no one sees der torture we 'ave to purrup wid lad. It's not fair lad. We berra get der bedsheets out and rite stuff on it lad. Weev got Moshiris billyunz to spend now lad. We want Maureenyo in.".
So people who want Martinez out are scally scouse illiterates? Dave, surely you can come across more eloquent than this.

I also think it's dangerous in itself to claim everything (whether it is or isn't) to be "Kopite".

Sooner or later everything under the sun would be proclaimed 'Kopite' at that rate. That's another debate though.

Bottom line is we must always do what is best for Everton at the time. That's as far removed from kopitism as it gets.
I see kopite behaviour as beating up and stealing match tickets off fellow fans, delusions of grandeur and wall pushing.

I see none of that here.

Lol at this, oh we had 1/10th of the money that city had, we are so hard done by.

City were getting mullered by most teams, they were in a piss poor run and we went 3-1 up.....and blew it.

And we are not in any rebuilding process, the team.was fine until he took it backwards

We'd better give all our cups back then. Other than the league trophies as thats all that counts right? The rest are luck.....

Best tell Barca theyre lucky in the European Cup as well if thats the psychology.

I support him, and think overall he's done a good solid job here regardless. I'm unshakeable in that view. It'd take a fourth season where we were struggling badly to convince me to say let's try again.

Isnt this just along the same lines as the quote Esk vaulted last week?

If we go all the way in the cup, yes. Why, would you rather we got a few places up the table and have no chance of silverware?

I think the burden is on you to defend your position, tbh.

I have defended him for a long time, but the WHU game was the final straw for me. That's wasn't down to bad luck, individual players making mistakes or anything else, other than the Manager making the wrong decisions, again.

Then, yesterday, I hear him saying about matching United for most of the game. Is he living in the past? We shouldn't be 'matching' the worst United team in living history, with jokers at both sides of full back, a CH who Barkley could run past in reverse, we should be absolutely annihilating them, regardless of where the game takes place.

However, he seemed to stick a DM in Cleverley on the left, a RW in Lennon in AM and an AM in Barkley in DM for large parts of the game.

He's put us in this position with what he himself describes as some of the brightest talents in Europe.

Wheres this winning mentality and winning environment he says is vital to create? Cause all I'm seeing at Goodison week in week out now is anger or apathy, and neither of these are conducive to winning games of football. He's done that to us, with not only his team selection and tactical naivety, but his complete lack of awareness of speaking complete bubbles after games.

My Dad is an incredibly mild mannered man, but Martinez's pre-match interviews have him spitting feathers. He seems to big up EVERY single opposition. He does their team-talk for them.

<insert team here> are a fantastic team who will bring their own challenges that we must be prepared for. They are in a phenomenal moment of form at home/away from home and it will be a test for our positive attitude to get something from the game.

And then, the press conference on Thursday.. When asked about Rom wanting to move for CL football. His only response was, we're rich now, so....... HE WANTS TO PLAY WINNING FOOTBALL and because of YOU, Martinez, we're not.

Get out of our club.

*At the end of the season
