Just realised a few ales on a Monday afternoon turns me into a bit of a pillock. Please see my earlier posts for how I feel about the site.
If we build something akin to the Berbabeu or Dortmund, Schalke or Tottenham I'm there. If we build the Kirkby stadium I'm gutted.
Like we said, land is land, its what you do with it that counts. Transport-wise it all adds up, money-wise it all adds up.
And yes, not everyone in Croxteth is a kopite, sorry for saying if that's you and if you're reading.

Fair enough, have you been down there lately? its started getting a face lift already, so not as run down as it once was, still not great but better

City's project is a better comparison. Etihad is in the middle of nowhere, relatively speaking, but it's a beautiful stadium and a huge complex including academy and other attractions. Concourse is really nice and a good place for a bevvy. Massive on-site parking etc.

Not heard many City fans complaining

I understand your reasoning about the DK site as it was totally unsuitable and got the treatment it deserved as it was outside the boundary and the design was a basic budget stadium with a supermarket next door.

However if there is a clear path at somewhere is SC with the chance to build a world class 55K stadium with the retail and entertainment amenities would you still object due to the location ?

If so you would advocate staying at Goodison and doing nothing ?

Not having a dig I just would genuinely like to know ( I'm funny like that soz )

I love goodison and don't want to move, would much rather it got a facelift and renovated, but this as an option isn't as bad as everyone is making out

If you get the train in to Piccadilly you get a full panorama.
My favourite was when I lived in Leeds and used to get the train to Lime St for matches.

2 blokes behind me all the way to Manc talking Man Utd, boring as hell they were. Who should play left midfield, who should be on the bench based on their passing average, who has had 12 assists in his career against teams beginning with B.

Then we pull up at Piccadilly for the slow approach and they see the Etihad off to the side...

"Oh, there's the ground there"
"Not far is it, I thought it was further"
"Yeah, we can probably just get a taxi then, shouldn't be too much".

Two of the most different looking grounds you could imagine and these bells didn't know. Priceless.
 
We all need to try and get any pre conceived ideas and prejudices regarding a new site out of our minds (easier said than done , I know)!

We only get one shot at this and it is critical that we get it right.

Chances of it ticking every box for everyone = Zero.

With the new man in the hot seat, I'd suggest we have never been in a better position to achieve this and move on to greater things. Its the trying to remain patient piece that will be the trickiest but I'm confident that this time we are not likley to be getting some half arsed solution forced upon us.

we already had one shot at Kings Dock and made a pigs ear of that, true we are in a better situation, theoretically, and if the new bloke has as much savvy as he is rumoured to have it will be a platform for the future not just an alternative to GP if we move.
 
I'm quite open to any idea.
I also trust our new shareholder to do something that will benefit the club long-term.
He's not a scorched Earth shareholder like Gaydamak, who saw Portsmouth relegated three successive seasons. He's not Glazer who saw Man U stunted until his inheritance fund has hit the magic 9 figures. He's not the lamentable Randy Lerner who, even tho his name is a joke, surprised everyone by actually being nothing more than a joke.

Farhad Moshiri wouldn't buy your car if it was never gonna pass its MOT. He wouldn't lend you a tenner if you only had a pound to your name.

He'll do something. What he does will probably make sound financial sense for the long term future of the club.
I know, putting all my eggs in one basket, and I don't like the SC site. But if he built something there which knocked the socks off other grounds, and worked out deals to make it pay for itself without costing us in higher prices (including travel to and from please Farhad) then I'd be on board.

Earlier fume aside, and I still stand by that btw, if Everton moved would you stay at Goodison or would you go where Everton are?

Don't get me wrong I love Goodison and still get the tingly feeling going to the ground walking up Anfield Rd on match day, and if we can re develop the old lady with ALL the amenities we need in a reasonable time frame and without killing us financially then that's my choice.

However I am a realist and I support EFC so if its in Liverpool and is a top notch standard I would move with a heavy heart but I will still go and watch my team.

You just said in one short post what I've been failing to say in about 5 long posts.

On board with the idea, but not just for the sake of it. It has to be a ground we'll call home.

I do trust Farhad tho, he'll see us right.
