We are now two weeks away from the start of the biggest and best Horse racing festival in the world.

A festival this year which shaped up to be a cracker has been blighted by a few withdrawals. Two of the biggest names and most exciting horses in training Faugheen and Coneygree both miss the festival but have now opened the them two races into proper betting races.

Personally I think Thistlecrack in the world hurdle and Yanworth in the Neptune won't be beaten. Best double you could hope for. I'm looking forward to see if Sprinter Sacre can roll back the years and beat UDS. Also Willie mullins has his brilliant beast Douvan at the festival. He says it's his best horse in training so has to be taken seriously in the Arkle.

I'm off down there for the first two days. Should be a cracking 4 days and if I break even I'll be a happy kid.

Anyone going? Anyone got any big fancies?

Im going on the Friday, used to go every year but not been for about 5 years, really looking forward to it, ive been backing the pricewise ante post picks in the racing post so hopefully one of them goes in at a decent price, its a hard meeting to get winners though, so many good horses all trying to win.

.....weights out today for the handicaps. My portfolio is already quite considerable with a host of small wagers on big priced selections. I've done quite well with my ante-post bets in recent years.

I used to go each year but nowadays take the week off work and watch every day in the pub with my pals. It's one of my favourite weeks of the year, plenty of Guinness in great company. If I win any money it's a plus.

....Tom Segal has been in poor form for 12 months now. A mate and I put £10 on his selections every Saturday, normally with a good return but not of late. He's due a bit of success so fingers crossed for you. Couple of good handicaps on the Friday, I notice Gordon Elliott saying he'd love to win the Martin Pipe Conditional handicap so his are worth a second look.

.....notice an article in this morning's Racing Post saying a new radio station called Talksport2 will open for Cheltenham Festival sponsored by SkyBet.

Look out for the bookies offers. Skybet have a cracker on first race each day, bet up to £25 on first race each day and get money back as a free bet if you don't win. Be careful though as if you shove a fiver on something now it counts as the bet.

There will be plenty of others on offer too so watch out for them and use them to your advantage.

I complete a tv and radio survey every day. Occasionally they have a related survey and this week one was asking if I'd heard of ten new stations which have apparently started. Amongst those was Talk sport 2. Spreading the dripping a little too thinly I think.

....I presume it's a permanent station (and not only for Cheltenham). If this is the case it would need a different theme if it runs in parallel with its sister station.

Can't really see what that would be - Talk sport really limits it somewhat.:)
