Anyone who thinks we shut up shop and did a proffessional job are deluded, anyone having a go at anyone saying anything negative aginst the performance have short memories about some of our performances this year.

We didn't kill the game off, Villa were the poorest team i have ever seen in this league, they where there to be absolutely embarressed and instead we played that much in 3rd gear and that sloppy that we let them back into the game and generally made the game much harder for ourselves than it had to be. Arsing around with 3 at the back, conceding a daft goal.

Will probably get dogs abuse for this, but for anyone who does, just answer why if we just 'killed' the game did we not bother pressing all game?, if we are just killing the game and coasting why do we start giving a ball away time after time after time? and since when is killing a game off consist of allowing a piss poor Villa side into a game - get a goal back, and actually put us under a lot of pressure?

The team, manager lacks a killer instinct to absolutely paste a crap team, and lacks the ability to kill a game off and shut it 'effectively' down, which explains a lot about how this season we have thrown more points away from winning positions than any other team in the league.

Am i happy about getting 3 points, yup, do i think we consciously decided to play in 3rd gear yesterday, nope, and do i think that we will get a performance like that against a team that isn't the worst team i have ever seen in this league - yup and we will get badly punished for us.

Funes is just lovely. First name on the team sheet.Thought Baines looked awful when he came on, same with Stones who, yet again, overplayed it and nearly got us in big trouble. Defence looked woeful and unbalanced with them two in it. Robles once again fine, shame the defence let him down for the goal. Was disappointed with McCarthy and Barry's inability to control the midfield. Lukaku was good, as were both Mirallas and Lennon! Who haven't I mentioned yet? Coleman was quiet but fine in defence, same with Oviedo - no complaints here. Barkley had a quiet game but clearly stays in the team as he's ace. Same XI against West Ham please!

Inability to stop the ball coming into the box caused a lot of nail biting last night especially when they put gestede on,this needs addressing for me against those type of teams,on the whole a very satisfying 3 points despite some cringeworthy shouts

We don't even bother trying to stop balls into the box though mate, not in any game, be surprised to see that changing anytime soon

Earlier this season: "I don't want to play fancy football and throw away points, give me a hard-fought, scrappy win any day!"
Last night: "That was awful! Just horrible stuff. I don't want to waste my time watching that, Martinez out"

This after a 3-1 away win
Our (young, internet-dwelling, more-interested-in-football-discussion-than-football) fans are spoiled and horrid
Having money is only going to make them worse

"NSNO! We deserve the best! We deserve the best!"
Shut up, go to your rooms.
indeed, the fumes at half time from the usual suspects when we were 2-0 up and hadn't broken a sweat were embarrassing.

Surely someone on the coaching staff knows the best way to defend a cross into the box is to actually stop the cross coming in

Agree with this completely. This was basically a mirror image of the Bournemouth performance. We get comfortably ahead without playing that well. We then sit too deep, invite pressure, stop pressing, stop passing and we invite teams into our box. I was genuinely worried when they brought that tall lad on. They had chances to get a second and if they had we probably would have crumbled as we have so many times this season. Happy with the 3 points but the reasons we have dropped so many points this season were still very apparent in this game which is a cause for concern as we are not learning. Compare this to Villa away in Martinez first season when Villa had a much better side. Tough game, we go one up in the second half then keep them away from our goal for the last 20 by passing them off the park, scoring another goal in the process. Not sure why we have abandoned that as a tactic.

I have noticed a lot of bickering no matter what the result recently. If that's not an anti-manager agenda then i don't know what is.

Just for the record, you cannot play the perfect game every game, Villa whilst being poor are fighting for their lives with the limited resources they have, 3 points is welcomed no matter how achieved in my humble opinion..

I would suggest it is more a combination of trying to prevent the cross coming in and an ability to deal with it if it does come in. To put all of your faith in being able to stop any ball coming in is probably a bit on the naive side.

Who said all faith is put in stopping the cross coming in? I would suggest those tactically naive are the ones that believe in dealing with the ball after it comes in rather than preventing it like last night when gestede out jumped two defenders to score and the countless times previously this season

Which is why I said it has to be a combination of both!!!!!

If the ball comes in you have the lottery of clearing it or not,if the ball doesn't come in its dealt with,if you can't stop it coming in then it has to be dealt with but effort must be made to stop it before hand, basic defending

We won 3-1 with a poor performance, I think a lot of had to do with maybe 5 out of the 11 not putting enough in last night and having an off night.

Is it just me or has Coleman been poor this season? He was caught out a few times by Cissoko, and his crossing is woeful, but he has no one to challenge him for his position.

A right back is a must in the summer.
