Roberto Martinez discussion

Not entirely sure but Bale must skew the figures? And they sold loads of expensive duffers that they'd previously shelled out millions on. Paulinho, Holtby, Capoue, Soldado etc etc. They had a rich pool of players to sell after being active in the market through all those years when we weren't.

Nett Spend 03/04 - 15/16
Tottenham £59,950,000
Everton £120,334,500

No, you said 'literally every other side'. You were wrong and chose to ignore facts to suit your opinion and then chose to tell another poster to 'take the blinkers off' because they disagreed with you.

No game in this league is easy going into it. Yesterday proved that.

Yes.

Literally every other side.

I don't consider the teams you listed to be footballing sides. To call them a side means that they play football and from what I've seen over the course of the season, they're not really doing that.

Hahahahah oh god what a post.

Not even worth it mate.

I don't expect you to sway your opinion at all, but that post sums it up.

Cute ad hominem. I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

You labelled last season's champions as a 'non-footballing side'. Villa are tosh, yes, but they're a Premier League side and no game in this league is easy, as proved by Sunderland yesterday.

Bare in mind the season was only four games in when we beat Chelsea as well, it's not like they were in the middle of their November/December slump.

We play Arsenal in a few weeks at home, I bet you'd call them a non-footballing side if we beat them.

you'd give a 2 year old an aneurysm. You DO realize Pochettino could win the league this year, no? They're basically a lock for top4. Why are points your go-to instead of league placement? Because you CONSTANTLY say that 5th means literally nothing to you, yet with our RECORD POINTS TOTAL, we finished 5th? And then you turn around say that he's being judged unfairly by how great he was in his first year?
72 points in many seasons is a CL spot total. In other words, Martinez's first season here was a better effort than a lot of teams that have got that 4th spot.

Pochettino will get a CL spot this season and good luck to them. They've played very well. But the point put to me was their manager's achievements thus far had eclipsed Martinez's first season here at Everton. They haven't. That's how good it was.

Struggle all you like over this: you and no one else can ever downgrade that 72 point tally. It was unbelievable with the resources he had and in a first season. Let's see if Ranieri gets that many in his first season at Leicester. I think it'll be harder to get than you think.

The thing is their recent success is down to Pochettino backing their academy players and bringing in young English talent...

Seem to remind you of anyone?

Ha ha comparisons between Martinez and Pochettino are laughable. In two seasons he has completely reshaped their squad and got them challenging for the title. We are still waiting for this never ending squad building to finish under Martinez and in 3 seasons he's got us in midtable.
