Roberto Martinez discussion

Look, i'm not defending Martinez full throttle. I have before and I do regularly admit when he gets things wrong.

I've said that the subs could have been better yesterday, but then again I did also see the logic in them.

But yesterday was one of those games that if we had got a goal in we'd have gone onto win comfortably. They happen. But people are saying 'they happen too often'. No, they don't. I believe, bar United and City, they are the first team to come to Goodison this season and keep a clean sheet, are they not?

They got the goal and shut up shop

They turned up yesterday knowing they could score

They got a goal from a corner. That has nothing to do with having two forwards on the pitch. That was their first attack of the game. They had three more after that - one of which was in the second half when Brunt had that shot.

Everton 3-1 Chelsea
Everton 6-2 Sunderland
Everton 4-0 Villa
Everton 3-0 Newcastle

literally every other team...

take your blinkers off...

Our home form has been poor. We were unlucky yesterday in that about 10 of the 34 shots we had weren't a foot to the left or right etc etc.

It happens and we couldn't find a way to beat a side that is managed by somebody who thrives off park the bus football.

Yeah I'm glad we tonked Chelsea when they were playing like an U11s side, the worst side in PL history in Villa, the second worst side in PL history in Newcastle and the third worst side in PL history in Sunderland. Forget everything I said.

They didn't need to attack once they had scored though did they?

Turned up, Scored from a set piece shock horror then sat back knowing we don't have the tools to break them down, Tip tap passing at 1mph, 5 touches instead of 1

No, you said 'literally every other side'. You were wrong and chose to ignore facts to suit your opinion and then chose to tell another poster to 'take the blinkers off' because they disagreed with you.

No game in this league is easy going into it. Yesterday proved that.

5 points from last 7 home league games. How does he get away with it?!! 4 home wins ( all against teams including Chelsea who were utterly woeful) and 6 home defeats!!!!

Can't believe we got over 2500 pages on this ! Martinez style of play doesn't work, no plan b! I've watched Arsenal v Leicester game today and very impressed with hard work Leicester players have even though they lost ! Spurs also fantastic pressing ! Martinez hasn't got this in his locker !
Have to agree with this comment. Yes we were unlucky on Saturday but I was never confident we would break them down after only 14 minutes.

You seen that MOTD heat map mate?

Bare in mind, we still hit the post twice, Foster had to make two or three very decent saves and they got deflections that could have gone anywhere and unfortunatley for us went just wide.

These things happen.
