Roberto Martinez discussion

What would Gerry do that Lennon didn't? When you have a striker that slept through the game the wingers were pretty irellevant.

He is a much better player than Lennon....he actually opens up a defence with his passes and crosses..

He provides Rom far with better service than Lennon does.....you have seen yourself how Rom thrives on Del's service.

Rom was not "sleeping" yesterday.....he was outnumbered in a packed defence and no one was playing cute passes or sending wicked crosses in toward him the way Del does.

Lennon, for all he was very eye catching yesterday, did not cut them open the way we know Gerald can.

He goes round his full back and whips low crosses into a box so crowded a sardine would have felt right at home.

That is not to say I wouldn't have started Lennon yesterday.

He could have been deployed on the left allowing Del to go right.

Or Del might have started left and the two them change round as the game developed.

But one thing I am convinced off.....Del should have started that game yesterday when every man and his dog knew guile and cunning were going to be needed more than the battering ram.

That would have been quite fun - definitely unusual

Sorry mate I am using some apple crap. Instead of my laptop, changes auto completes all the time.

Completely agree. I'm a bit confused though, are you back in the plotters camp?

No, I said earlier on in this thread, nobody can defend his actions yesterday and I wont even attempt to.

I identify with the Cult cos I dont want him sacked, at the moment, but im not full Cult, cos I see everything he does thats wrong and I wont defend it. I want him to change, I honestly doubt he can, but im willing to hold on, almost blindly, cos whilst flawed, im fully behind what hes "trying" to do, hes trying to build a team that plays attacking football, that aspect I cant and wont fault.

But hes not the messiah, hes a very naughty boy.

Oh mate that was a centre forward performance from a guy who is on the beach already. Lennon got through on the right so many times and lukaku was languishing at the back post , did not get across the front post once in 95mins.

Give it 2 weeks and the cults hold over you will be gone.
Wait till flappy starts against bournemouth

Why yawn though? The result yesterday was unlucky and has no place being grouped with some of the dire performances we've had.

Because this is a discussion about Roberto martinez and not how unlucky we were yesterday.

We have a truly atrocious home record for the last 18 months and people like to brush it under the carpet like it's irrelevant.

He's like David Cameron, talks about how good things are but in reality they're pure dog turd; and Everton have been for 18 months now

Our home record is awful. But yesterday was not a bad performance...we played well and didn't get a result. It was far different than some of the dire games we've had. Anyway...go on and fume on.

The atmosphere is not helpful.

He's not going to change just ask the wigan fans and look where they are now, from finishing mid table under bruce to division one.

Didn't think yesterdays atmosphere was really THAT awful. Felt like the crowd was pretty 'ok' because we weren't doing slow and plodding, we were actively pushing everyone forward to try to score. Just one of those 'Pulis' days when they play for a draw, nick a goal and then hold on for dear life.

I think yesterday, more than anything, made me realize the guy who managed two years ago isn't going to come back. At least the guy who made boss subs and made big gambles. Relying on absolutely crap and past it players to rescue a draw, at home, to West Brom.

It was terrible which is par for the course these days.
