Roberto Martinez discussion

It was a looped header, no one in front of him he is their main target Fumis Mori out jumped but no one in front of him to block it or put him off
Kids stuff!

Actually Funes Mori jumped higher but Olsson was in front of him and won it well with the near post flick. I wouldn't be overly critical of that goal really. Bit of a lottery sometimes.

I honestly wouldnt know how many teams do put players on the post for every corner, so dunno if that is a fair criticism.

Can't keep up with the quotes.

You're all mental. It's not good enough, but it isn't Martinez's fault we can't hit the back of the net today.

I'm out.

98% and counting.

The tactics and the in game management is all on him. We never broke through them once and his solution is putting Kone on the lw (hasn't worked in ages) and leaving 2 wingers on the bench. Then bringing our best player off while leaving 2 DMs on.

How does he escape blame?

We are terrible at them like.

We were with Moyes though. Arteta hit the first man every corner.

I don't think we train set pieces much, if at all. Either offensively or defensively.

As pretty much confirmed when Baines said he didn't have a clue how we would have set up to defend a corner live on national television that time.

We broke through them on several occasions and made several good chances.
It's hard to break down a team with 11 men behind the ball sat on the 18 yard line but we did more than enough to win, just didn't put the ball in the back of the net, mainly to the credit of our opponents.

If he jumped higher he would have headed the ball, not blaming him you need Barry or Coleman to block his run, and in my day two full backs were on the post!

We don't attack the ball anymore when defending setpieces. Like Cahill used to do.
Might be the best squad we've had since blah, blah, but the difference in the two teams today was concentration, they didn't switch off and we did twice, and were lucky they didn't punish us when Brunt put it wide from their second half breakaway.Nobody tracked him.

Season isn't over though is it.
Pretty much, yes.

We gonna win the FA Cup? No. We'll go out by dominating our way to a defeat against somebody poo, likely Bournemouth, or get outclassed by City or simply spawned out by the RS.

League is over. Let's just get our 40/42 points.

So you are still optimistic? Genuine question.

Of course. I wouldn't support my team if I wasn't. What's the point in following someone your whole life only to wait for them to fail? I never understand why this occurs!

I want my team to win everything! If that's delusional then people treat football far too seriously. I've harked on a few times about the word supporter lately. That's how I see it. If come May we didn't do as well as we expected or hoped, questions need to be asked. But you need to see the full result before moving forward. The season is 38 games for a reason.

Sacking him now doesn't achieve anything especially when there's still so much to play for.

oh ye. its easy to break through a whole team parked in the final third.

Ive watched Barca struggle to get through teams as bad as that when they park the bus.

Football is not always as simple as we are better so we should win. Give the manager and players some allowance for the fact that those games are a challenge for any team. Especially if the busboys manage to grab an early lead.

I mean, theres room for criticism in some of that performance but fuming.....get real. (not that you in particular are fuming...just the general fuming in here)
