Roberto Martinez discussion

No how about say mirallas up top with rom? Keeping Lennon on? Just a few
He did try something different, we were being pushed/kicked off the ball and not getting the free kicks for it. He put Kone on to wrestle with them for it then increased the crosses into the box by putting Del on for a fading Lennon. I imagine McCarthy was suffering for fitness having only just come back from injury.

That wasn't the question. You said that not a lot of the 30 odd attempts were on target. Why is that the managers fault?

How was it his fault Barkley smashed it over?

How?

He managed the tactics, subs and practice in training. Ok if he is not responsible then who, you or me?

Interestingly Barkley should have got closer with his late chance rather than taking it first time. For me anyway.

The subs I agree with. I don't really ever want Kone on the pitch ever again.

'Mix it' is basically code for 'play the long ball' which clearly wouldn't work against a team like that.

I don't know the answer either. But I'm finding total blame on the boss hard today.

That assumes that people (like me) who are slagging Martinez are basing all their opinion on todays game. I'm certainly not. After a long and forgiving loyalty to him, I realised last year that Martinez wasn't up to the job, so each defeat he presides over is increasingly frustrating.

Our home for is appalling, that's the big issue for me. Irregardless of today, in general it's been shocking for 18 months
Spot on.
We should be doing so much better with this great squad.
Its not about today even though his subs never made sense its about the last 2 seasons and how we are going backwards under the clown

You're slating a player there for missing a sitter.
But not apparently slating our players for today. Only the manager.

I don't get it.

How are the players at fault if they're told to do something on the pitch and do it?

Surely what they're told to do is at fault?

Did the players go out there and ignore the manager in any way today? I doubt it - I'm convinced they were told to hold possession, play slow and look for space that isn't there for 95 minutes, because we've done it over and over again, as has Martinez his entire career.

What will it take for you to see patterns emerging here?

Still a big ? over Martinez for me however todays result is just one of them unlucky ones. We battered them and couldn't score. Simple really. There's been a few games we've lost this season we should have won. Got to learn how to achieve that.

Real lack of clear cut chances. Lots of half chances, nothing clear cut, except arguably that barkley one where he needs to at least work the keeper
Those were all clear cut chances.
It's hard to cut out clear chances when your opposition sits back on their 18 yard line for the entire match.
Difficult to get behind and then even harder to find space in the box when you do as they flood the box with players.

I
Lads why don't you fire up FIFA Career Mode or Football Manager and show Martinez how it's really done.

You can play all the wingers at the same time and put one of our DMs in a SWPR position.

We will win the lot then.

I got my son to put Niasse in the side yesterday and I'm telling you now he's absolute garbage. 77 and runs like a hooker who has been ravaged by a coach load of scruffs from Burnley.

On another note, I would normally say today was another nail in the Martinez coffin but there's that many bloody nails in it now that it don't look like a coffin but more akin to something I've botched up using my B&Q crimbo vouchers.

The substitutions were awful there's no two ways about. Either way, Boberto will be here until the seasons end I imagine and the new owners I'm sure will evaluate his position

It doesn't assume that. I am purely discussing today. And nothing else.

The longer term can be discussed when the after match fume has died down.

Don't think he changed much in his tactics still tappy tippy after half time. And his subs were awful today.

The second half was even worse than the first half. Did we create anything that threatened their goal? None? He sticked Rom upfront on his own for 90 mins when West Brom had about 9 players in their own box.
lets be honest here, you've been waiting to stick the knife in since day one.

Every defeat or below par performance and you're there with your bitchy whiney cryarse ways. I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice what a monumental cockwomble you really are.

WBA playing with 10 behind the ball. Not a shocker is it?

Big blokes winning all the headers. Not a surprise.

How about using two wingers for the entire second half? Every time the ball came down the left Oviedo was expected to create and take care of the odd counter attack. Kone has to go inside because he lacks pace so their left hand side had it easy.
