I hear you but the reality is that Goodison is no longer fit for purpose and something needs to happen, I would favour a rebuild or redevelop Goodison but if that is too expensive and time consuming then a new stadium is needed.
Don't tell me you wouldn't want something like what Spurs are doing, hopefully the new owners can deliver that

For some Goodison is far more than a corrugated cowshed. As a minimum if you just removed the pillars it's still a great ground in its own right. It's one of the most significant grounds on the English game so I rail against some of this 'Goodison is out of date stuff'. A new stadium could very easily be a corrugated soulless monstrosity.

I liken Everton and Goodison Park to a now elderly but former captain of industry who fell on hard times.

During his hayday he went out and bought a beautiful Rolls Royce. How everyone admired it in its day. However time past and the service bills mounted just at the time when his fortunes suffered. He kept his car despite his friends buying new and bigger models. Some said it was still a great car despite the rust, the lack of performance by modern standards plus the horrific service costs and fear of failing its MOT.

His accountant and family begged him to sell the Rolls and buy a functional, reliable and cheap to run Ford Mondeo. Despite wavering once and putting an order in, for certain reasons it never happened and to this day he drives the Rolls.

Interestingly his fortunes are changing. New investors have come to his rescue. At last our captain of industry has a choice, does he buy a brand new Rolls to be the envy of his friends once more or does he go down the sentimental route of completely revamping his old car, new everything but still the style and class that everyone loved all those years ago.

To be continued.....
