But that's the point.

A manager like Hughes didnt think Huth was any good because he wants Stoke to play "out the back".

Martinez would never look at a player like Huth because of this.

So when your team can't defend, the no nonsense honest defender who can defend, organise his defence etc becomes more valuable than any philosophy or style.

A side needs players like that than spunking £70million on [Poor language removed] like Demichaeles, Otemendi etc
I've said it all season that I generally like to have defenders who can defend first and foremost, pity Martinez thinks differently.

70 minutes in, and Leicester are still constantly hassling the City players at every opportunity.

Great energy and work ethic.

There hasn't been a minute of this match they've switched off, and not a moment where they weren't prepared to identify the counter attack and go for it with everything.

It's been an incredible performance.

TBH I think that doesn't give Leicester enough credit tactically - what they are doing is playing in a reasonably unique way against a league most of whose teams play in a completely different way, ie: they pack their defence and rely on having two/three quick players to counter-attack into space, whereas nearly everyone else wants to play pretty football, "dominate the ball" or make a fetish of pressing - all of which creates space that Leicester exploit.

Of course they aren't the first to do this - that is what the RS did until Mou worked them out and Brendan decided to spend millions playing how he wanted (as per your point above), and what Palace used to do until Pardew bought Cabaye and changed the way they played completely. All that's happened with Leicester this season is that their defence is playing out of its collective skin, they have a phenomenal midfield that understands exactly what to do, and Vardy / Mahrez are having the season of their careers.
