Tim Howard

I think you all have just blocked out the Barnsley match, is all. Perfectly understandable -- I wish I could forget that first half.

Howard's definitely made some howlers, don't get me wrong, but that goal haunts me.
Oh come off it. Robles made a mistake.

Howard has made many, many, many mistakes over the past two seasons. I can't pick one.

Leicester last season? Or Palace? Or the Swansea penalty a few weeks back? Or...or...or...

The man is awful, not Prem standard, not Championship standard. Almost guaranteed to give up at least one goal off a mistake every game or two.

A 25 year old goalkeeper who is still learning making one mistake every so often, or a keeper in his late 30s making mistakes week in week out. I know which one I'd rather see in goal.

People pointing out Robles' errors are being harsh. He's not had any howlers since soon after he signed — when he was about 22-23 and seriously lacking in professional appearances. As he still is to be fair; he really needs a sustained chance to prove himself.

Howard is 37 this year and has been making awful mistakes for 18 months, despite being one of the most experienced keepers in Prem history. It's two completely different scenarios.

Next month.

How is pointing out the Barnsley goal defending Howard? You guys are really defensive about this, aren't you? Let's be clear: pointing out that other goalkeepers have made mistakes in their careers, and even maintaining that Tim Howard is not the worst goalkeeper ever to play in the Premier League, is not remotely the same thing as saying Howard should ever play for Everton again. He's done here. I admit it. Barring injury or a complete collapse in form, I hope Robles starts every match remaining this season. He's shown great improvement since the start of the season, and we need to see if he's good enough to be our long term starter.

Just be happy that we're winning with or without Howard.

For me, Tim Howard has been quite good over the years, but is in a dire run of form, give or take the odd game, since his WC 2014 heroics.

Neville Southall said that once a goalkeepers form drops, it drops dramatically - fast and hard.

I thank Tim for his service, however I think most blues feel it's time for Joel to get a real chance of a good half-season run of games. That's not to be read as a personal attack on TH folks. He was good, he's not any more. It happens to all players.
