Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Holgate has never played in the senior team and he's a centre back mate.

We need Oviedo. Was superb against Carlisle on the left. Galloway is class, and is going to be class, but Oviedo is still a cut above in terms of attacking.

You will not get an argument from me that Oviedo isn't better (particular in attack) than Galloway today. What about next year, though? And what happens when Garbutt's back in the mix? Garbutt showed real potential last year.

As for Holgate, I've seen him play exactly zero times. I thought he's swung between both positions. Regardless, over the course of a few games I don't think the difference between him and Oviedo would make a difference in where the club finished in the table.

Ughhhh I'm disappointed with myself here. I'd been a good boy and kept this thread at arm's length the whole month until today and I'm posting about 3 times a page. Hate transfer windows.

If anyone does get sold of that lot, it should really be Oviedo. At his age he should be first choice somewhere and he never will be for us.

I know, but I think at the moment this would not be a great time for it. The crowd and the team are collectively nervous any time we have to defend and with the media finally wising up to Martinez he could get a lot of attention if he makes a mistake. I don't know why he hasn't started one of the cup games yet though. I would suggest that selling an established squad player to make room for a youth player is fine, just give them a few games in the team before that happens though. I wouldn't be too happy if we binned off a reasonably decent squad player for someone barely any of us have seen kick a ball.

Well stated.

Work with a German Bayern fan and he isn't bothered about Guardiola leaving. Says he preferred watching the team before he showed up when they were more direct and full of German players.

Last post about Guardiola, promise.
Keep em coming.....makes me thankful we swerved that lemon an landed the best man for the job.....* taps forehead with wall *

He's going to be a centre half mate (Holgate). Came through for a few games at RB for Barnsley, but was pretty much moved to centre back straight away as they thought he was good enough.

Bare in mind Stones had only ever played Right Back at Barnsley before so that shows how highly rated he was there, though granted they were in the Championship when Stones played.

As for Oviedo, next year is next year, focus on that then. There's an option to extend his contract by a year and I imagine it'll be taken up. He turns 26 next month so he's in no way old. Always puts in a quality display when he plays as well.
