Yes If Joel Robles would have had a proper deserved run in the team we would know now do we need a no 2 or a better no 1 Keeper- Instead of RM wasting the space by using Tim Howard!

I genuinely think his chance has got to come soon.

I know Bobby is stubborn and I do understand keepers get a certain amount more preferential treatment with regards to this than other positions but i honestly think he may even get the nod Wednesday.

Attacking mid from CSKA - like Finland's best player but that means absolutely nothing. Decent player but not sure how it'd get done today.
I like Finnish players they're usually tough and he, Besis and Mori might give us some real backbone.....but doubt it'll happen.

@USABlue don't be suckered in by Martinez saying there is no value in the January transfer window. Prices go up but there are still deals to be done and we need a keeper more than any other position.

Which would be to prioritise a new keeper,no?

If he's the right man for the long term i.e., his number 1 target.

If not, then I wouldn't want him to accept 2nd or 3rd best now juts cause he's better than Howard.

Imagine last summer Chelsea refused a loan for Atsu and insisted on a permanent deal. Martinez liked him, and decided to sign him cause Delefeou left and Atsu was an improvement on Osman and McGeady. 12 months later Delefeou comes available but we've spunked our dough a year earlier on Atsu.

What's so good about Eremenko anyway? I know he's got one hell of a right foot but is there anything else about him that'd be valuable to us?

But my whole point is buying a new number 1. Nobody mentioned stop gaps or number 2's. I said He knew we needed a keeper and hasn't addressed it. He's had another transfer window which closes soon and hasn't addressed it.

It has nothing to do with Martinez saying that. I think the situation with keepers is different than outfield players. Why would a team sell their top class keeper in the middle of their season? If this keeper is playing for a contending side they wouldn't want to lose him during a title chase, midtable sides would want to keep him to solidify and push up table and crap sides would see him as their only chance to avoid relegation. Only scenario likely would be if we wanted a keeper whose contract was up soon.

But most keepers that we'd want are either first choice or 2nd choice, they rarely make moves mid season. Think Ospina will move in the summer for instance but Wenger won't agree to him moving now - same with Cech last season who wanted to move innthe January window but was made to wait until the summer.

Transfers aren't always just a case of chucking money at it - there is no way we'd agree a move for Rom or Stones in this window regardless of the fee offered for instance.
