They also had players there before he joined like Eriksen, Lloris, Kane (yes, he came through under Poch, but he was there already), Chadli, Lamela, Dembele, Vertonghen... I could go on.

Poor point there.

Ok I'll go back further.

In the last 5 years they've got a negative net spend of £45m

Thanks

Sticking with Howard for so long is a massive error.

The players have to take some responsibility, but its the organisation and lack of drilling that's creating the consistent conceding of poor goals. That's the root cause.

How do you know there is a lack of drilling? No fan has any clue what's going on in training?

We came back after the Stoke game and defended very well against Spurs and City (twice). We had a sloppy 2 minutes vs Chelsea that cost us, but regrouped and would had won the game if the linesman and ref had done their job.

That obviously shook us, and we were poor against Swansea.

Wednesday, we went up against the best team in the land at their place, and after we took the lead they needed three to win.

They bagged through a deflection (we always conceded from deflections under Moyes, if you remember - always!), and a goal that again wouldn't have stood had the officials done their job. They then scored through a piece of quality play (even then on another day it could have been given offside, though there are no complaints from me as it was extremely tight and the benefit should go to the attacker in that situation), though the marking from Stones and Jags may have been better - then again it was a wonderful cross from De Bruyne (a £50mil substitute) and an even better run from Aguero (one of the world's best strikers).

All he has to do is make the sensible quote "that's football" and then carry on and maybe address the fact we aren't getting results and that he and the team are working hard to change that. And stay away from the flights of fantasy about where we should be.

Yes, but one of the major factors in us not getting results in the past two away games against two of the best/most expensive teams is down to poor officiating when we needed them to do their job on obvious, clear-cut decisions. That's a fact mate

We didnt have howard, coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Barkley, mirallas before bobby joined then?

Taken from Ossies autobiography;

"Another difference between the managers is their approach to set-pieces. With Moyes, we could spend an hour and a half on Fridays going through routines because he was so meticulous in that aspect. If I was a manager, I'd probably do the same because fine lines can determine games. He hated losing goals at set-pieces because it was something he could influence."

"Martinez doesn't really do that. It's rare for us to work on set-pieces. You're given your roles, you're supposed to understand them and if you don't, find out, think for yourself. That was a big changeover for us."

"We questioned why we weren't working on set-pieces and Graeme Jones, the assistant manager, said: "How many do you have to defend in a game? Three? So why would we spend two hours standing around to defend three set-pieces when we could work on moving the ball."

You're welcome

Mate, respectfully...refereeing decisions/young squad/building...la-la-la. All that.

We've got a young squad that has a lot to learn. That's correct. It would be detrimental to them to come out in public and say 'we're not good enough'. Dreadful for morale. I'm sure in training they're working very hard to fix it - as he said.

Ref decisions have cost us in the past two away games - heck even against Swansea we could have easily had a penalty... They're not the only reasons we didn't pick up the wins, no, but they are a big part - especially the Chelsea one. I don't see how anyone can argue with that???

You make your own luck Toff.

The manager in his press conference today said it evens itself out over the course of the season.

It's also a fact that last season, we finished 11th and this season, we're currently 12th.

No, we did. But

Lloris is better than Howard
Stones was a kid, Martinez is the one who brought him through
Vertonghen is better than Jagielka
Baines, yes, class.
Barkley, again, was put into the first team by Martinez (or at least given the responsibility of a major role)

Because they sold Bale and Modric for a combined £125mil...
So they lost 2 fantastic players. Their best 2 players, both top drawer.

And they bought inferior ones to replace them. Players that 2 managers couldn't get a tune out of.

And then Pochettino turns up......
