I watch a lot of movie related documentaries among the best I've seen are

Never Sleep Again - The Elm Street Legacy - 4 hour documentary about the Nightmare on Elm Street films
Crystal Lake Memories - 7 hour documentary on the Friday the 13th franchise
Going to Pieces - documentary about slasher films
Doc of the Dead - the history of zombie movies
Halloween 25 Years of Terror - about the Halloween Franchise
Electric Boogaloo - the story of Canon Films

I would also recommend Turtle Power if you are/were a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Filmed in Suermarionation if you grew up on the likes of Thunderbirds, Stingray and Joe 90

...I appreciate the ethic arguments but I am enjoying the Secret Life of the Zoo on C4. Based in Chester Zoo I clearly remember school trips there in my early school days and spent many a dad and kids day in the winters when my own we're growing up. Watchable.

The Story of China. Fascinating history of China narrated by Michael Wood. Amazing facts, especially up to the nineteenth century. Very interesting comparing the achievements of Europe and China.

Just watched a great documentary "The Barkley Marathons" about the worlds toughest race (on Netflix). It's been going on for 30 some years in the mountains of Tennessee and in many years no one finishes. The race is also very quirky, with an entrance exam to get in, a 1.60$ entrance fee (plus license plate), and it starts with the blowing of a conch shell and the lighting of a cigarette. Each runner is assigned a number that corresponds to a page in a book that they must tear out, which constitutes the "checkpoint". Runners have 60 hours to complete five 26 mile loops through the mountains, with only water, food, a map and a compass (no altimeter, no GPS); they complete the loops tearing out pages in the book "checkpoints" and must turn in the pages to the race organizer at the end of each loop.

The race is rather quirky, but it is hardcore...great movie.

Apologies if anyone has already mentioned these, but for those who liked Making a murderer, I would highly recommend The Jinx and The staircase. And for all out making ya head explode with disbelief, have a gander at The Imposter. Still scratching me head a week after watching that one.

Hi.
The best docu I have seen lately, is a docu on netflix, called "going clear", and is about the scientology cult.
I just went clear myself, after two years of full time devotion in the Hare Krishna cult, soo this subject I can relate too.
I only got out, after a deadly virus almost took me away, in a filthy hospital i India. I then found out, what the meaning behind it all was, namely money.
But the fundamental system in scientology and Hare Krishna is the same.
It is very interesting for me, too see.
