You're not a proper mod.

Well this "Etiquette" thing is a two way street - I often think Mods lock a thread too early. Last night I was posting on the Sam Byram thread and suddenly It wouldn't take my post as it was locked as no longer being relevant. So I put the modified post in the "Transfer" thread , as did loads of others who wanted to have their say on that topic and as a result it dominated that thread crowding out genuine news. No harm in keeping the original thread open a while, you knew what it was about if you went there and given the number of subsequent posts many thought it was still relevant.
Similarly, having just seen it confirmed that Steven Naismith 's transfer has gone through I sought out his thread to wish him well. That was closed yesterday, before the transfer was official , bizzarre.

I closed the "player performance" thread for Naisy about half an hour ago so all the talk about his transfer was in one place ( his transfer thread ), and also to avoid talk about him playing for Norwich at the weekend being in the Everton forum.

For the latter, what normally happens with ex-players is that someone starts a "Naismith Watch" thread in World Football. I know that wasn't the point you were making, but it's vaguely relevant so I thought I'd mention it.

Hope that helps.

Fair enough, I see there is a Naisy transfer thread which I missed before.
