Well this "Etiquette" thing is a two way street - I often think Mods lock a thread too early. Last night I was posting on the Sam Byram thread and suddenly It wouldn't take my post as it was locked as no longer being relevant.

Thanks for your feedback. The mods here are just posters like you but have been around a little longer and are charged with the smooth running of the site. That means we'd rather be pre-emptive than reactive in many cases. So the thread last night on Sam Byram had reached the point where some posters were using his decision not to join Everton as a means of criticising the club, board and manager with the obvious counter claims from those that felt different.

Nothing original was going to be added at the point of closure, he'd made his decision and everyone had fairly well established views either way on the cause. In our experience it is better to close a thread too early than too late.
