Saves this season
J Butland- 80
T Howard - 75
P Cech - 73
Adrián - 71
C Pantilimon - 70

We've also conceded 32 goals

No argument that Howard needs to be replaced, but he's being absolutely peppered with shots. If the team can stop giving away these opportunities, then naturally less goals will be conceded.
2nd most errors from crosses
Most headed goals concede inside his 6 yard box

No command, utter coward

I really do not understand Martinez stubbornness regarding Howard. Too many goals cost us this season and Robles really showed at least in my opinion that is far more stable and safer. The same stubbornness Martinez showed with Barry last season when he was really out of shape, tired, but Martinez kept it at 3 games a week with his stubbornness. Hes doing that now with Howard . Then Kevin why there are so few minutes was a mystery which only knows Martinez. I expect Besic on the bench no matter how good his performances are. In working with the players Martinez is very good, can be seen at various players and their advances. But managerial decisions Martinez sometimes make us suffer. Hart has finished on the bench last season (I think) after considerably less errors or easy goals and flip flop on corners (Goalkeeper England national team). If that corpse from City have guts to do that when he see that his keeper was simply out of shape, no concentration, whatever the problem was. Why Martinez at list not make Robles motivation for Howard I do not understand. Because to motivate him to be better if the praised after a good game, and numbers of hes idiotic flip flop , wrong position ect. Just that t first goal against Chelsea is a lot witch I blame Howard if not more then Jagelka, If not for that crap game will be diferent I m sure But Howard ,he has no fear for his place.

Think a fully match fit Jags would have usually dealt with Fabregas' ball over the top, but ultimately Howard could see the play developing, the ball was in the air a long time and (i) he did not react quickly enough and (ii) have the physical presence to deny Costa so I'm afraid it has to go down to him.

Also Esk did you notice stones's position ? he was about 20 yds to the right of jags and in no position to come round on the cover. At any amateur standard of football and up, 1 cb would attack the ball with the striker and the other would come round on the cover. No communication in that back four at all.

people saying howard isn't at any fault for the first goal, is laughable.. completely laughable.

First of all, jags should have headed it, initially but he didn't.

But the fact is, if howard doesn't come rushing out like a lunatic, and like a goalkeeper in his first premier league game, Jagielka simply clears it out the way.

Fact is, Howard runs out like a moron, misses the player, and the ball, and puts jagielka off completely.

Second of all, as a keeper and 'a keeper with great experience' as martinez calls him, he should know that if the defenders don't get to it, he HAS to make costa make a choice, at least give him something to be hard about. Simply running out of his area and giving costa no choice at all, giving him a free empty goal is completely laughable.

He's absolutely awful, and his 'great game' against city, nearly every shot was right at him.

I'm no fan of Howard but you're wrong there. Jags had already been pushed off the ball and Costa was getting there ahead of him. If Howard hadn't come out at all it'd have been a simple finish for Costa. The problem is, Howard should have reacted quicker and just taken him out instead of bottling it.

i'm absolutely not wrong though, at all.

He is a liability where he should be our insurance, costs us more points than he wins and has won. Needs to leave in the summer at the latest, think we will struggle to find a quality replacement in this window though.

Said that at the time, thats one of his weakness's he gets dragged out of position too often and can be guilty of watching the ball and not whats going on around him
