Tim Howard

The point about yesterday's first goal was that the ball played by Fabregas was in the air a long time, secondly Howard could see the whole play develop in front of him and thirdly if you are going to come off your line you have to make sure you will be first to the ball, otherwise you hold your position around the six yard line and narrow the angle if the attacker gets ahead of the defender.

Pretty basic goalkeeping. Poor judgement and execution yesterday.
A loud shout of "keepers" would have gone a long way to solving them problem.

I agree totally, if you are coming off your line in that situation you have got to take the ball, Costa and even Jagielka , it cannot squirm past you, if not stay put for gods sake.

If heoward was going to come out like that for the first goals then he should have made sure he was going to win this ball. Totally Howard fault once again

Add the third goal to the list.

Whys he on the floor before Terry kicks it? If he stands big he saves that and the offside decision doesnt need to be made. HE HAS TO SAVE THAT. He almost did, the fact it bounced off him and trickled in shows how poor his body position was.

This ^ all day long.

If he chooses to come for that he simply has to get the ball. It was poor judgement, there's no defence of it.

If Costa does get to the ball first he's still got to control it which allows Jags time to get level with him. If he doesn't then he's in on Howard but still with a lot to do as he would have ended up with a narrow angle.

He was stupid, pure and simple. His decision making is not up to standing. It's like he always decides to to the exact opposite of what a good keeper would do.......we have a really good team being let down by a crap keeper.....

If Funes Mori was under that ball yesterday he would have put his head on it, Jags didn't.

Then their is no excusing Howard's reaction off his line, he should have been first to the ball and put his body on the line to clear the ball even if it meant taking the other two out in the process.

The guys got some arrogance, far beyond his talent. Watched his interview midweek, and the reporter says: it seems like you talk to your defenders more than most keepers, and he replies: it's not even possible to talk more than me.

Not sure where it was for the first and the third but it certainly wasn't there. Add 2 more points to the 'Howard's cost us a game' list, gonna be pretty long by the years close.

Not totally Howard's fault for me. Jags should be dealing with that straight off.

But

Once Howard has decided to come that far, he has to take everything. Ball, jags, and Costa.
My son pointed something out between Howard and Robles may have been yesterday - when Robles plays the team seem to play a higher line in defence - he seems to think Robles gives more communication breeding confidence i.e, Jags would have automatically know Robles would have been on his way for that ball over the top - For all Howard's fine saves - he does not command his area or distribute the ball that well - If all you defence are communicated by the Keeper then they grow in confidence, TBH Chelsea were knocking on the door before that mistake by both players happened - Another fan stated sat in the Gladwys street end Robles is more vocal as the team is attacking.
It was sad to see we conceded what the punters said was a great pass from Fabregas when in all it was just a lofted lob in which any keeper has to communicate act quickly or shout its yours I am staying on my line!
I all that it's about a Keeper breeding confidence in the last 18 months with Tim there all season it's looked very poor and costly!

The Chelsea fan's reaction on that video is telling. Clearly well excited with stealing a point from an offside goal eight minutes into seven minutes injury time, like we all would be. But the first comments are to thank Howard for being a "shambles" of a goalkeeper. Even the oppo fans are onto this, like their managers have been for the last eighteen months or more.
