Tim Howard

Daft move by Martinez if he doesnt play Joel. He had a 'get out of jail' chance play Joel in the league for a while and not looked like he had caved into the crowed. Bobby's comments are so cringeworthy they're almost Kopite like! I think Joel earned at least a chance at the league after his semi final proformace. Regardless of what you think of Howard it's the manager who sellects him and should take the blame if it all goes wrong. Here's an idea though, how about we just support whoever's in goal for us, either Joel or Howard eh?!

We're not a great side yet. We're getting there, but there are still holes in the lineup. We have no one with even top 4 potential at goalkeeper or left wing, and I'd say that only at striker and the fullbacks do we have anyone who consistently plays at that level yet (Barkley and Deulofeu too, maybe, but I think they're both still a long way off from their best level). We're nowhere near top 4 on current ability, regardless of whether Howard was in goal or not. Maybe if you replaced Howard with De Gea or Cech or Courtois we'd be close. Maybe if we replaced Kone with Mahrez or Bale that would also be true. Maybe if Barry were eight years younger and Stones and Barkley were five years older we'd be leading the league.
We would be a better side without Howard in goal as he unsettles our defence, I feel we would be at least in the top six, maybe top four this season all down to RM choosing him over Robles!
Hey ho you and two others see no harm in that to our team ????

As I've said many times in the past, I wouldn't believe 1 word that comes out of any managers mouth. Everything they say has a hidden agenda behind it.

I still wouldn't be surprised if Joel started Wednesday.

Unlucky mate, because we all know by now that he's deadly serious when it comes to Tim Howard

We wouldn't be sniffing top four with Robles in goal. I've come around on him to the point where I accept he's probably an improvement on Howard right now, but not six to ten points worth. He's not on De Gea's or Butland's level.

I have began to think it may be contractual. Tim has been well below the standards of a top goalkeeper this season and for the majority of the last. We have lost maybe 10 points this season thanks to some terrible decision making and poor communication. That could have seen us top 4.
All the great sides have a great keeper.
To talk of him as part of the Everton badge is an insult to the legends of Everton and embarrassing.

It's proof that he has no idea what he's talking about. He tries to make out that he is immersed in the history of the club but he doesn't have a clue. Because Howard has been here a long time, he thinks that automatically qualifies him as a legend. I'd rather Martinez just focus on managing the team to get the best results possible with the group of players at his disposal, rather than feel the constant need to suck up to these long-serving "legends" of the club

Just having a competent keeper would have us top 6

Butland isn't on De Gea's level mate, not even close. A keeper of De Gea's quality would have won us about 15 more points this season. A competent Premier League keeper would have got us 6-10 more points easily

How do you know that because quite simply Robles was never chosen, but I have seen Tim and my heart is in my mouth on most occasions look he is over the hill finished argue all you want or go to specsavers!

This is the point Tim Howard will never ever be a legend of our club where the hell is RM coming from?????

I don't know if Joel is the answer long term, but he's certainly worth a shot over Howard at the moment. His distribution is better, he's louder, he commands his box better.

He still does the odd thing where you wince though, for example the shot he faced against City where he parried it straight out in front of him and Baines gave it some half arsed clearance which they nearly scored from. If his parry out went straight to a City player, like Schmeichel for Eriksen yesterday in the cup, then it would've been a bit of a howler.

But, clearly moments like this will happen less and less as he gains experience and the point is, he can't be any bloody worse than Howard at the moment.

He just needs an extended run as Howard is well in need of a rest and coaching on his clangers!
His positional sense etc

The only thing that could justify him bringing Howard back in for the league games would be if he was planning on replacing him this window and didn't want to put Robles in goal only to drop him again a few weeks later. Unfortunately it's unlikely that that's the case and we'll probably just be stuck with Howard flapping around for the rest of the season.

All he couldve done was parry that shot, few yards out snapshot blasted at goal, good save that
