Roberto Martinez discussion

I've never felt it was fair to credit this to martinez. They've had a succession of succesful managers of whom roberto was just one. Jackett got them out of the 4th flight, martinez out of the 3rd, rodgers out of the 2nd and Laudrup to their first trophy.

I think it's just a well run club.

jackett was clueless to be honest, they got promoted purely because of trundle, they were still playing the type of football everyone else in the football league did. Martinez brought the possession philosophy to swansea and almost within an instance they became one of the most attractive teams in the football league, head and shoulders above anyone else that season, he brought in a right back like angel rangel who would score goals and attack.

The football league was full of right backs like hibbert and swansea still play that way now.

I just think that period of football where possession based football was the key to winning, like spain did - it's now moving more towards and era of counter attacking football being the more productive, something which is sort of bad news for us, but we've shown we can be nearly as good at counter attacking - just need a defence at the other end.

Cleverley shouldn't be playing with Barry, those two positions should be between Besic, Barry and McCarthy. Cleverley wants to be looking forward but then he's challenging Barkley to play behind striker or shunted to the left, but you lose part of his game there.

If we want energy and combative football we may need to look at Besic and McCarthy in there..

Positives:

Much better second half. Willingness to take Kone off and use Besic admirable. Stopped the rot of recent defeats.

Negatives:

20 goals conceded in 11 home games. 0 wins vs top half teams from 11 games this season. 6 wins from 20 games dips us well under 30% for the season.

I know you're upset, but please keep it civil.
You are the one who said you would prefer a draw to a win.
I am a fan of everton and want us to win,you are a fan of martinez and don't care what the result is.
You said yourself yesterday i am only reminding you of what garbage comes out of your mouth

It depends what you're after, if you're happy with the short term fix then it's win at all cost.

I wasn't happy when we were winning 1 nil today, I was much happier with us against crystal palace for example even though we drew.

Obviously if you're desperate to be 9th and not 11th then you clearly want the 3 points but I'm trying to look at the bigger picture.

Obviously it's win at all cost in the semi final.

He made early subs because it was the first game in a while that we were truly dominated by the opposition. Every other game where we've thrown it away, it didn't look like we needed a change until too late.

Fair point about us being dominated. Subs were deffo needed against liecester, Norwich and Stoke but were not made, one of the biggest gripes in here is his subs, either the wrong ones or to late or both, he made the right ones at the right times today and it really showed, I think we more the matched them after the subs.

I think the point I'm trying to make is if he does that more often then things will improve.
