Roberto Martinez discussion

It takes time, if the utd board had listened to the shouts from the fans for Ferguson to be jibbed, well......

I'm asking questions about Martinez now, like some of his substitutions, why we can't actually take a decent set - piece, keeping faith in players who just aren't doing it, but I still back him because for me he's building something good, but it takes time, and for now I'm willing to take the bumps, how long for? It's hard to say, but I'll see what happens when the season finishes.

How has whiskey nose's thoughts on winning a title got anything to do with us? We're not in that company.

Ferguson was a top manager at an elite club.

Nothing, it's not like you to revert to petty name calling on a respected football manager. Anyway, didn't mean to get in the middle of you all, carry on.

How long did it take Ferguson to get it right though, in his first 5 years he finished 11th on 3 occasions, 2nd, and just outside the relegation places, and there were banners like this around Old Trafford "Three years of excuses and it's still crap ... ta-ra Fergie." Even the media were calling for his head.

They won an FA Cup in 1990, without that trophy Fergie might well have been a goner.

By that logic Mike Walker was treated horribly by us and also David Moyes was outperforming Ferguson in his first season so why did he get fired? Comparing Martinez to two of the greatest managers to grace the english game is ridiculous. The United board saw something in Ferguson that was clearly not evident in Moyes and probably LVG.

Well, the difference is I guess that you don't stick with a manager for that long these days if they are underperforming at one of the top clubs. He wouldn't get 5 years now, as Moyes found out and Van Gaal is about to find out.

He would get 5 years if people could see green shoots of recovery. There was none for Moyes, he was a disaster, there's non for LVG either hence why they'll both get chased.

There is here though, there's a lot of the job that Martinez is doing right and even though he's clearly making mistakes on the pitch they're are things he can iron out and he's earned the right to try and do so by all the good he's done up to now.

You say none of these modern managers get time and arguably every single one of these clubs who do keep changing are under performing.

The team currently top of the league are the only one with any stability.
