Roberto Martinez discussion

Indeed, Ian.

As I told you boys last night, things were a heck of a lot bleaker at Christmas 1983 than they are at Christmas 2015.

Your head would have been exploding a lot more violently back then than it is now, my son ;)
Was there a consensus we were on the cusp of something then?

There is nowt wrong with the form, Venture.

It is the results.

We are playing quite brilliantly most the time.

Man. United were the opposite earlier in the season........they were in dreadful form but kept ekeing out victories somehow or other.

Then the results caught up with the form and they have gone into tailspin.

That is what tends to happen.....and I can see our results catching up with our form especially when our first choice, experienced defenders are back in full harness.

Everything will be OK when our results catch up with our form? So the problem for Martinez is some kind of sci-fi issue.
Now I really have heard it all.

It's crazy all this arguing and splitting the fan base when at the end of the day all we want is the same thing. Everton to stop conceding soft goals. I think it's doable under the current regime, I don't have much faith left though. January is going to be hard.

I spat thw coffee out when he said Howard had a superb performance against Newcastle whilst Mirallas had a good game or something to that effect. No wonder Howard antagonises fans he is untouchable

Are you kidding?

The lynch mob was out with torches and pitch forks.

Well, buckets of paint and a brush.

Prototype keyboard warriors were down Goodison daubing "Kendall out" on the walls.

You would have been in your element.

Even @davek wouldn't have been making a case for keeping the manager at Christmas 1983.

And we didn't even have the saving grace of spectacular football on the pitch played out in front of packed houses.....it was boring stuff played in a half empty stadium.

What am I talking about?

It was less than half empty......13,000 hardy souls, yours truly among them, for the visit of Cov just after Chrisrmas.

And Howard had been at the job the same length of time then as Bobby has now.

So chin up, old chap.......the darkest hour is often just before the dawn ;)

Oh right duh eh, is that your game?

Don't enter a debate if you haven't got the capacity to be civil in response.

Are you really, really, REALLY, that upset?
Or
have I unknowingly committed some ultimate interweb faux pas?
Or
do you just don't agree / like what I say?
Or
maybe you just need to have a word with yourself about going off the deep end.

Oh and have a gratuitous 'duh' for the new year seen as it winds you up that much
;)

Since I've said as much as most on this subject and as @chicoazul says; we are not changing each others minds, so I've been toying with this for a day or two. I'm going into voluntary exile on this thread for as long as I can stick it, or until after the spurs game.

and you sonny jim, can go on ignore for a while

Word reaches me this morning that after the stoke game some of the directors present at the match were told in no uncertain terms that brown shoes game management skills deserve further magnification. They will not have been impressed by his presser today !

Do you mean the directors told martinez to sort it or fans told the directors mate?
