Oh right duh eh, is that your game?

Don't enter a debate if you haven't got the capacity to be civil in response.
Christ you must be new here, the second a question get a touch too hard to answer people either don't reply, lie about what you've said, answer sarcastically and/or name call, get used to it, more often than not those type of responses come from those in the 'Martinez is a god of football management' camp.

I think we overlooking fact we have a young defence which has not been protected and supported by the two most experienced players.

1 - Howard: I agree with Martinez that he is not the singular person to blame but he hasn't helped take the pressure off a inexperienced back four. His confidence is shot and he is doing very unlike Howard performances. He is a confidence player and I think he needs to be dropped because he knows the fans and press are on his back which makes him dangerous and a risk.

If Howard wants to be No 1, he has to earn it.

2 - Barry: Another player who has been a scapegoat but I am a big fan however without someone next to him who will sacrifice their own game to undertake further yards. Since he has been captain and without McCarthy to chase every loose ball, Barry has been a passenger in every 2nd half. He simply cannot perform for 90 mins at the standard and the position we need him to do so.

His positional skill are excellent but are useless if he cannot recover. He is a Martinez favourite because like Moyes, Barry acts like a Phil Neville role/2nd in command for Martinez but we all saw how Neville just drifted away. Barry must be dropped.

I know it sound crazy to take out 2 very experienced, premiership winners and good players but their time has come. It is difficult for Martinez because I feel without the injuries to Jagelka,Cleverley and McCarthy, we would not be sat in the bottom half looking up but it's a squad game and we need to rotate but sadly our bench options haven't delivered.

For Spurs we need to address this:

Robles - Earnt his shot at No 1 plus needs game time with 3 cup games coming up, no better time.

Coleman - Stones - Funes Mori - Baines

Besic - Has that engine needed to close down and protect the back four
Gibson - Need to freshen up but also keep an experienced player on the pitch. He could play a half then be replaced with Barry.

Deulofeu - Lukaku - Mirallas

Hey Ian, out of curiosity, what would it take for you to start watching Everton at Goodison under Martinez, provided money and work e.t.c was no object.(don't know your life situation). Follow up question to that, did you watch us under Moyes, Walker et al. or if not why. What was the deciding factor in making you not go and watch a club you obviously have great passion for?

It is a jolly good job the Internet wasn't around in the autumn and early winter if 1983/84, Dave.

Can you imagine what they would be posting about Howard lol

And the match thread for the Oxford away Mikk Cup tie would have made for great reading after little Inchy negated every word that had been posted before Kevin Brock saved Howard's hide and his job ;)

True, although I don't recall Howard's teams throwing away games from winning positions week in week out prior to heading down to the Manor ground

First of all why reply to the post you did and then not mention anything I said? You could of just mentioned me.

TBH I have a bit of a BS stance at the moment that I'm not going because of Martinez, I had to give up my ST because I had a child and when my wife went back to work she worked weekends and I could never get childcare on Saturdays.....only potential babysitters (grandparents) are Blackburn ST holders and for some reason at the time they always played at home when we did, more often than not.

Now it's developed into the fact that id feel like a fraud going to a 1-off game and sit/stand moaning.....when most around me are ST holders who have to put up with it (dour results) on average 2 out of every 3 games.

I have an agenda against Everton doing poorly, with the best squad we have had and baring maybe the final 5 months of this season are likely to have. If it appears that Martinez is a victim of that m, so be it.

The easiest way to look at it is if we were in a position that many fans would of hoped for, I have no argument as almost every point I make is based stats. If the stats improve I can no longer make an argument. If the stats improve between now and then end of the season, I can't make an argument. I have also gone on record as saying if we win the LC he can do what he wants for the rest of the season and you won't hear a peep from me, those that defend him without reproach are doing so on opinion and old stats (that looking at his PL career as a whole appear to be an anomaly) I'm dealing in recent stats, with the really good squad he has created.

That is where my stance comes from, I'm not stubborn though should we improve I'll have no axe to grind. He's a nice guy, a good figure head for the club, he PR skills represent us well with the media (too well as he doesn't get criticised as much as many others) he is good at bringing on youth, he's not as bad as o thought he was gonna be in the Market although their are still some questions to be asked in that department.

I think the qualities mentioned in your last paragraph, along with an ability to attract some great young talent are where his strengths are. If he would only wake up and act on the blindingly obvious need for effective defensive drilling and a new keeper he could really take us forward. But will he ever?

If i want entertainment I would watch a film, play a game or watch a neutral game, I dont watch Everton for entertainment, Everton isnt a hobby, its my life.

Give me 1-0 every week, rather than draws and exciting defeats.

Mout You go the game every time we are home, that's a lot of money to fork out to waych crap being dished up, you deserve more for your money.

However, like I say, it's just about finding that balance. I think we have the players to do it, the tactics need tinkering.

TBF to him it may not be possible to be as brilliantly attacking as we are and much better defensively, maybe one needs toning down to help the other.

That might mean sommat if we were actually getting into winning positions very often in that season prior to Oxford, Bernie.

But we weren't :p

We never even scored a goal the whole month of December :(
Would that last bit suggest that the comparisons need curbing a bit, then?
