Double Post.

I'd like to think Byram could be a Beckford type deal. EDIT - Dembele also.

Also would like to see us go for a foreign player on a free transfer. Sign him now and get him in the summer...dont remember us doing that.

Mandanda is free in summer but i dont rate him and Handanovic is also free and definitely would be a coup.

We've been looked with Nordtveit from Gladbach. I don't watch too much Bundesliga, but he is key to a very good Gladbach team.

Yes i read that too as well as Arsenal possibly re-signing him.

He's a defensive midfielder and i just cant see it myself. We played 2 defensive midfielders before but now just Barry with McCarthy in the CM role...

So Barry,Besic and McCarthy are the 3 defensive midfielders on the books and yet other than Cleverley whose a bit more advanced we dont have a "real" centre midfielder...i think we need a really top player in there so when Barry winds down we have McCarthy + Barkley + dominant CM.

Thats what id hope for anyway...

Well, i'm a bit of a "one man band" on this one. I think Barry is very good but not mobile enough for this type of play...we need someone in DM who can cover Baines as we have a huge gap on the left midfield....that man for me is McCarthy. Problem is we dont have a single Centre midfielder or deep playmaker so he's out of position in centre midfield..

I think we'd look a lot better with McCarthy in DM and a dominant CM brought in...Barry on the bench....he just isnt mobile enough for me to fit the system.

We play 2 defensive midfielders and cant figure out what the 'defensive' part means.

I think rather than taking punts on players Martinez needs to bring in absolute top quality for the 3 missing pieces of the first eleven.... he should bring in the Dembele, Byram types whose contracts are almost up as squad players with big potential.

Wouldn't mind a punt on Andre Carillo,
Claudio Ranieri holds him in high regard,
Contracts up in June, he's outright refused to sign an extension, so he'd go pretty cheap.
Think he'd be an absolute steal.

Theres a lot of talent going for free this year, with the likes of Caceres to add some experience at the back.... by the sounds of things hes ready
to flee Italy too, but its just structuring his wages....

Think tops two departures. Three or more feels too disruptive. So Naismith is other....quess Geads is another. Deadwoods + Mirallas are gone in the summer.

One youngster in one XI player in.

Keeper issue wont be touched until summer

......Barry plays the Carsley role and I know from what a lot of players say that the key is being disciplined enough to not actually cover much ground. I think this is why the likes of Barry and Carsley were able to play every game. I recall both Fellaini (when at Everton) and Lee Catermole (at Sunderland) saying they found it really difficult to adjust to that role because their natural inclination is to be mobile and cover for other players.

Saying that, the statistics indicate Barry puts in a major shift in every game.

Barry has run the greatest distance in pretty much every game this season. He's very mobile off the ball.

Thats right, also with the stats i wonder where hes running to as he's not covering the full back.

Difference with Carsley and Barry is the formation as well though, Carsley had Pienaar and Baines on his left whilst Barry really only has Baines...

You really think he could come back and do a job? I've looked through british CBs in the premier league and there isn't that many, that's what we need, a Gough,Watson,Weir type Scott Dann would be a good shout but he would cost, I even thought Collins from west ham,he's no frills but has done a good job for years, but I think he's like Dann just signed a new deal.
