Roberto Martinez discussion

Pretty sure we got one on the weekend.

Boss when people on here who don't work in football reckon they know better. Can't believe the boss wasn't picked from GOT members.

No choice since BK is in charge dare I say. We need a rich owner to take the club forward. 19 games gone now see how this season ends. Been awful defensively and you win games by having a solid defence not trying to score as much as possible in a game.

Can't see who we would get that could do any better at the level of investment in fees and wages currently being given to Martinez. Will he ever take us to the next level? No. Is it his fault? Probably not. Can anyone we could realistically get do any better under the circumstances? Nope.

You know you're stuff mate.

Ultimately a manager who will not balance the defensive aspects of the game with attacking flair will not have much success in the premier league. I can't see many saying 'get him out now' but how long will he take to change his ways? Some of the stats are horrible. Losing back to back home games to Stoke and Leicester conceding 7 goals with the players we have was previously unthinkable.

Sadly any league targets were made redundant as soon as the decision was made to persist with Howard for another season. Will he be changed in the Jan window, probably not.

People will be along in a minute with names like Koeman and Hughes.

Some may even say Laudrup.

And we shall laugh.

He has a month to do something , with the semi games and the transfer window if he just sits on his hands and hopes for the best it will get ugly for him if it goes tits up

Martinez on Mark Clattenburg: "The feeling is extra frustrating today, you cannot understand how such an experienced referee gives that decision right at the end.

It was such a wrong call. Someone with his experience should understand a bit about the game.

"John Stones got a touch of the ball and from that moment on you can see there is a doubt in the mind of the referee.

"He didn’t give it straight away, he wanted confirmation so he goes to his linesman who is 45 yards away. To go on his view is very disappointing for us.

"We want a bit of consistency, look at the incident with Seamus the difference in my eyes is that the left-back from Stoke is behind the player.

"So if he goes to ground and he has not touched the ball, it has to be a penalty. With the incident with John, he is ahead of the striker, so you are always going to have a doubt, even if he doesn’t touch the ball.

"When you see the replay, John touches the ball. So with the law, it is very disappointing that he got that one wrong. And it is extra painful because he was not consistent throughout the game.

"I saw him after, I have huge respect for Mark," he said. "He has always been someone who is very honest, a perfectionist in what he does.

"Today he was very much out of sorts. The big decisions punished us incredibly. The first half with Seamus Coleman and Pieters in the box and to give a penalty in the 89th or 90th minute, you have to be certain."

Martinez on Everton's performance: "We weren’t wise enough to settle into the game and manage that period a lot better. It was a game we didn’t deserve to lose."

"As a team we need to be more wiser, we need to learn quickly. We didn’t manage the game. We got ourselves 3-2 up. We need to improve.

"Yes, it is a recurring theme but one that shows the right path in a way.

"We want to get ourselves in front and therefore you will have to put yourself forward. It is an overall feeling we need to get better in that situation. We know how to protect those leads and make sure we get the return on points."

Martinez on Tim Howard: "At the moment there is a bigger picture, nobody has got their position safe.

"Everyone is fighting for their starting spot, and it's no different for anyone but we have to get better as a team. The competition for places is always there, there are a lot of games in the next few weeks. There is going to be a lot of completion for places."

It's not bragging, it's defending ones stance.

You are basically saying that because I never thought Martinez was up to it, my opinion doesn't count.

That's wrong.

The irony is if I'd of predicted this form after the first 10 games through to today, I'd of been hammered.

You never miss an opertunity to mention how much you dislike the manager

I'll leave it there

There is - get a new man in, get his feet under the table and a clean run at the summer window with the Lukaku/Stones money to rebuild.

The guy is a lame duck. No pragmatism in his mentality whatsoever; we'll never improve.
And if the new fella loses ten in a row, then what? Lukaku and Stones probably generate £100m, who would you think we can get in and tell him that in 6 months we will sell your two best players and give you £100m to build a team that can get in the top 4?
How much will United, Chelsea, Spurs, the RS, etc all spend in the summer and keep their best two players? It's mental.

You do know he won't be sacked though yeah?

And that changing the manager mid season could be utterly catastrophic with so very much you people want changing yeah?

Oh of course he won't be sacked, our board don't care as long as there's no threat of relegation....if the right man was available, I don't think it would be catastrophic to change at all, give the new guy 4 months to work with our players this season, make the necessary changes in the summer and go for Top 4 next season (we ain't getting top 4 playing like we are with Martinez)....

I like the guy....but he's naive and sadly stubborn...he's failed to address defensive problems from last season...and I'm simply fed up with it now....

That the same Hughes who had Stoke do the double over us last season and finish above us, he also has them above us today after beating us and UTD in 48 hrs whilst having them in the all mighty LC SF and completely changing their identity? That Hughes?

I will be in the summer too. Enough will be enough. But nothing matters now. It's not looking great. And if things go tits up against City, which isn't impossible, it will look worse.

I'm more a wait and see what happens kind of guy. It's far less stressful.
