Roberto Martinez discussion

But why would you mention a cup win at a previous club where you've just said his record is irrelevant?

I get that you're just a caricature poster, taking an exaggerated stance in order to create debate. It can sometimes be fun to watch so I don't normally like to disagree with you, but unfortunately it's clear that some people take what you say seriously & so occasionally I feel the need to point out that your argument doesn't hold water. This is one of those times. We both know that there is a big difference between the last 6 games and the last 50 when looking for indicators of performance.

I've said numerous times that I wouldn't want Martinez to be sacked, and that I don't think this season has been a disaster. It has clearly been a disappointment so far though, and I think the performance since last season started, when allied to the manager's record at his previous club, makes a decent case for saying he's not the man to take us forward. Were we to have a huge upturn in form over the next 5 months, I would be more than happy to point to the stats over this period to say that he deserved longer in the job.
I mentioned it in order to counter the obvious point being made that Martinez's career record at Wigan in the PL was poor - I dismissed the cup win as also irrelevant because it wasn't anything to do with Everton.

*sigh*

Haven't had my say in a couple hundred pages so just thought I'd pop in and give my opinion.

I want to keep Martinez. Martinez isn't perfect, but Martinez plays sexy football and looks really attractive in the interviews. I want Martinez to win some more football though. That'd be nice.

I think here is a post we could all get behind.. banner it up and fly it over Goodison..
Martinez in you sexy beast.. but win more please.

For me, Jagielka being out injured and Howard playing badly are the reasons we have drawn so many games and not won them. In part you can blame the manager for that, Howard should have been replaced in the Summer and Ideally we would have got a CB with premier league experience, like Scott Dann.

Hopefully in the Window Martinez an sort it out, we really need a Keeper, I'm not sure we will now get a CB in, I think he will have to stick with picking two from; Stones, Funes Mori and Galloway, then Jagielka, when he is back fit.

It's almost certain he won't replace the Keeper in Jan, he's backed him publicly, he'll just look stupid if replaces him.

Thought what he did at Wigan was off the table? (Apart from his cup win of course, just the bad stuff we want to ignore). I'm sure Martinez's career win ratio would not make great reading.
You will be allowed to judge Martinez only after his retirement...staring at the list of teams he would relegate...

You are spot on there, TH will not be going anywhere and dare I say not next season either.
RM does not see this as a weak spot to be strengthened.

“We need to learn quickly. That was the biggest problem from getting a good result or not.

“We need to become a bit more experienced and develop quicker know-how of what you need in a game which Leicester had. They knew exactly what they were doing. They knew how to control the frustration of the fans, how to control the restarts and that was a real contrast of two teams in that point of view. One with a lot of talent and a lot of young, ambitious players but who need to develop know-how quickly.”

This part of his comments after the match. He has been manager now for two and a half seasons and comes out with this guff. What the heck have you been doing Roberto during that time waiting for fairy Godmother? Notice it is all "we" meaning the players never I. Does he ever tale any responsibilty for things hat have gone wrong.

Unbelievable post match comments.
