Roberto Martinez discussion

How isn't it arbitrary to pick a point weeks ago from no obvious point of departure (other than it suits the point you want to make?

Judge Martinez on form and stats by all means. But the usual method is to use season long or career long readings. On those metrics Martinez is fine. Which maybe is why it isn't used.

Thought what he did at Wigan was off the table? (Apart from his cup win of course, just the bad stuff we want to ignore). I'm sure Martinez's career win ratio would not make great reading.

Because his first season here was out of this world with a group of players we had. No one had the right to expect that feat. It was incredible as a first season for any new manager and it'll never be repeated until we get a lot of investment. Just our luck that the CL requirement that season was so high.
And just our luck, also, that when its a low CL target this season (presumably), our points return (on current form) ends up also being a low one.

That isn't true though is it? As i've already said, it would be totally normal to say we were in good form because we'd won 10 in a row. Even if we'd lost 10 in a row beforehand. And do you really want to go down the road of 'career long' readings for Martinez? Really? I don't think that's what you mean is it? You mean 'current term of employment' readings. Which is just as arbitrary as any other stats.
Of course I mean career readings at Everton. It's an Everton forum, why would I bring in irrelevant data from another club...including a cup win, btw?

Look, current form is ok for musing: here's one for you - the current PL form guide has Leicester, Palace, Watford and Bournemouth 1 to 4 in their table. But you're not going to conclude that they'll end up there are you?

Form is interesting as a guide, but it's not anything you can draw big conclusions from.

Again we are thankful that Spurs have Drawn too many games and UTD haven't won in 7, we were 6 points behind UTD a few weeks ago with Liecester, Norwich, Palace and Bournemouth coming up, UTD havn't won in 7 games, their fans are fuming and want rid, yet we are still 6 points behind them.
What are you bothered about other clubs for? They'll go through ups and downs like we will. In fact you've just underlined my point for me.

I thought someone might have something new to say.

Come on Ijjy Ian has completely changed my view point with that last post. I mean even though I feel like I've read the same posts over and over for the past 3 weeks it's suddenly hit me after reading that that we need a new manager.

I will now disregard all the other beliefs I've had about Martinez and the way the teams developing and be forcefully and persistently calling for his removal and as well as undermining any views that support him now in every thread.
