Roberto Martinez discussion

You see that result just now and the results all season long, in fact: it's just a weird one full of ups and downs.

There will be a levelling out though over the 38 games. That's what's most important.

Any team getting 60 points is doing a themselves a favour. Been saying 60+ all along. I stick to that. It's the benchmark for all teams just outside the CL spots.

We have only won 5 games all season with this squad.

Not meaning to pick on you but I just really dont get the 60 point mark. You back Martinez to the hilt because of his first season saying 'he got us a record points haul'. And you defended him last season when we were absolutely wank all over the pitch(to a degree I can accept this too then) because of his 'record points haul' in the first season. So why is 60 points, with no European football to 'distract us', seen as acceptable? Should he not have an upward trajectory? He improved on Moyes team with a record points haul, fell flat on his face in the second season. Should he not be back to normal (ie: 70 points+) this season if he is as good as you allude to?

steady eddie?

no matter how sh#te liverpool are, we always seem to be that bit shittier.
This, its so [Poor language removed] weird. The season we amassed our best points total they come [Poor language removed] 2nd. They loose one week and we never take advantage, we just play average at best.

The PL is all over the place mate. You're the only one who doesn't see it though, apparently.

Doesn't matter what money you spend or how well you play, these other 'lesser' clubs now are going to be competitive.

We have to take all this into account when judging our own season. I think most people are gradually seeing that now.

Dave's problem is he has invested so much belief in Roberto he finds himself in a position where it is impossible to back down. The bottom line is the results are not good enough, Roberto has over invested in attack and under invested in defence. Sacking him is not on the horizon but come the end of the season some serious lesson's need to have been learn't. Otherwise the only option is the door and he can close it when he has left

If we continue to display current form we won't make 60 points (the arbitrary points total you've assigned). What needs to change second half of the season? Why have we continued in the same form as last season for the first 17 games of this one?
