Erm, I'd prefer the term realist who has his some differences of opinion over some of Martinez's decisions. Since I have no power and realise that Martinez will be given a chance at redemption, I'm hoping for the best. Ultimately what is the plotter's plan? Hypnotise BK and blow the transfer budget on compo to Martinez. He's here for the long haul but folk should be entitled to give their opinions and highlight the factual realities of what is happening freely without being admonished for doing so.

If you buy into Martinez "philosophy" and then compare it with other very successful prem sides you can see it lacks ingredients:

A-- Central Spines
Cech--Terry--Lampard--Drogba
Schmeichel--Bruce--Keane--Cantona
Seaman--Campbell--Vieira--Henry
Howard--Stones--Barkley--Lukaku

Clearly Howard is the weaker player.

B-- Central Midfield
Essien
Keane
Vieira
Barry

Clearly Barry is the weaker player.

C-- Left midfield / wing
Robben
Giggs
Overmars
Kone

Clearly kone is the weaker player.


If you compare man-for-man the rest of our first eleven with the others you wont find much difference in quality.

We clearly lack a top GK and LW as well as a "Midfield General" to play alongside McCarthy.

The GK and CM positions are key (especially with McCarthy and Jagielka out) and Kone whilst "just" a support forward means we cant switch the play effectively and teams can double mark Deulofeu.

As @The Esk said we need "mental toughness" for me that means having confidence the keeper wont let in 2 goals per game and also having a driving force in CM.

At the same time @davek is spot on about Martinez building the team. However he still needs a couple more windows to bring in these players...which would naturally instill more confidence in the team.

On top of this, weve had an unsettled defence, Mori bedding in and our top 4 players are still kids.

So as i keep saying, he needs 2 more seasons to get the players in and have them play together.

With the players at his disposal Martinez should be doing a hell of a lot better.

There's managers with a lot poorer squads who are out performing him week in week out.

I go into every game now, knowing we'll concede with the shambolic defending.

There's not a manager currently in the prem who would achieve less than Martinez with the same set of players

We have a team with good defenders individually but a manager who has them set up as a useless unit. His teams have no real battle in them. You have to win ugly on the premier leagu, Utd under Fergie were masters. The total football he tries to play is a joke. we hardly play well for 90 mins.
Which manager would be this low with the squad available? Not many.
Good managers get the best with what they have to work with......anything outside the top 7 at the end of the season especially with no europa league and regardless of a cup win then he has under performed. We almost have to score 3 to get ourselves a win these days.
He obviously considers Howard as his number one whether or not we agree with this, and for the upcoming semi I bet he will play Robles. So for a semi he is basically not fielding what he considers his strongest team. For me he is a total fake and we ridiculed the RS with Brenda for this..... Open your eyes boys he is a clown.

Wouldn't mind to see Flores from Watford brought in I think he's done a wonderful job there.
