If, and it is a big if, there was a good right sided centre half of about Mori's age available this window I'd hope we would consider buying.

With Browning out for the season we are light on cover for both RB and RCB and Stones leaving in the summer is not unlikely.

Why? We have Stones, Jags (coming back) and Holgate coming through...

Because I don't think Holgate will be ready to step up to filling a CB spot this season or as anything other than 3rd choice the following one. Would prefer his introduction to the team is more like Galloway/Browning's has been rather than thrust into playing CB so early like Stones was.

Stones did well but he is an unusually calm character and had the very experienced Distin by his side - if Holgate played this season it would likely mean that both Jags and Stones were injured ie it would be Mori by his side who is still learning the league himself.

First time years Im not expecting transfer action. Tops one off one in...and this isnt because what bobby has said on rags. It's just a feeling that we dont want big changes into the team right now. Big bang happends in summer.
Might be a bigger bang than anyone wants in the summer

Ok but in Jan we will have Jags/Stones/Mori/Galloway ahead of him anyway...that should be enough and then Holgate covers Brownings backup role and gets a few minutes before season end...see how he does before next season.

Victor Anichebe likes this.

Anichebe had actually had something of an impact in the season before though. He'd scored like 8 or 9 hadn't he, plus he was 24. Still we rinsed WBA, but at 29 I can't see McGeady fetching anything more than £2mil.

I just really, really wish we had a hard knock, nasty centre back.

That, plus a good goalkeeper and a second good striking option, and we'd be fantastic.

We have 20m of assets we could lose without feeling it too much (Naismith, Mirallas, Gibson would easily bring in nearly 20m), and filling three said positions wouldn't cost much more than that money plus a little bit more.
