2 man team?

Which of these arent among the best in the league in their positions?

Baines
Stones
Jagielka
Coleman
Mccarthy
Barkley
Deulofeu
Lukaku

Look all I am saying is that for all this talk of a side being on the brink of greatness I think we are smoke and mirrors - a 2 man team at best.

It's not like he's got wedge to go out and sort every problem area in the squad ffs

Needed a top striker, Bought Lukaku

Needed pace, Bought Del and Lennon for peanuts

Needed a new CB, bought on Mori

The rest have been frees or cheap risks like Besic or Kone

It's taken him 4 windows to bring in those players and get the back bone of a decent team that players good football most of the time

Be great if we had Utds money so we could get replacements for every position that we needed in one hit but we don't, it takes time

I see this "game management" thing becoming a stick to beat him with and wondering which melt in the media has uttered this for all the simpletons to be mimicking it?
I'm sure a saw SAF mention it a few years ago when he was criticised for bringing Scholes on in his first game back from retirement away at Man City. I'm also sure he's forgot more than you'll ever know about football.

Im not disputing that those players aren't decent but we've been leaking goals - not Lukaku and Deulofeu's fault - and scoring quite a few - mainly from that combo

Im not.

Just seems a waste of time to argue the obvious...

Their is only @davek offering up opinions on why Martinez is the right man, and fair play to him, the rest who want Martinez are HIDING behind sarcasm and name calling. Bad day for that group, although they will be jumping for joy at the 1-1 'victory'

I am 100% behind Martinez. I like everything he is doing. I'd be happy to have a couple of years of 7th-10th placed finishes if it meant getting the young players to develop properly.

The problem is I am terrified we won't be able to keep the squad together if we don't make Europe. Our players are getting constantly sniffed around and sold on to money clubs by the media. Will be a huge ask to keep them all from leaving.
Don't be terrified just accept it, if you could guarantee that the players would remain for 24-36 months almost everyone would be tolerable of Martinez

If we lose any of Lukaku/Stones/ Barkley we will get top money and we could see the squad in much better shape
