Roberto Martinez discussion

It's not fitness. Look v West Brom, it was the second 45 that we showed up. The team is struggling to keep on top throughout the game due to complacency and lapses in concentration.

I imagine as soon as that goal went in, Rom was probably think "Here we go again..." just like the rest of us.

Disagree mate. Last season I had far more concerns. This year I can see him trying to gel together the best young team I've seen at Everton in 30 years.

There will be ups and downs but I don't reckon were far from clicking.

The fanbase needs to be a bit more patient towards the manager, he's setting the club up right in the position were in. From the youth teams too.

Would be a shame if we done a Geordie special and ruined a good thing before it had the chance to blossom.

We're going nowhere in a hurry with the ownership of the club we have right now, so why can't people wait a bit?
This team will not be staying together if we don't get Top 4 anyway. Which we won't under Martinez.

No, and he shouldn't be just yet.

But his position shouldn't be without scrutiny.

Nobody can deny we under performed last season, and this season.

Just what would be a sackable performance from him? Bottom half half finish?

That's probably much more the question.

Boss first season, crap last, seemingly average this season (so far).

Have we underperformed this season? Or is this just where we are?

You see, I saw that last season > https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/martinez-the-reality.73441/

It hasn't come together as quick as I'd have liked.

Nobody's really calling for a change of manager, they're just questioning him. Nothing wrong with that.

FUUUUME! People worried that we are bossing teams but not winning? At least we are bossing them in the first place. We look as good as any team in the league when in the form of the first half and that is down to Martinez. Would it be better if we were playing the same level as the opposition all game and drawing? The most fluent team we have witnessed in a long time the results will surely come playing like this have faith.

We're struggling with tempo in the second half, how is it not down to fitness? Look at how Norwich maintain their pressing with their superior fitness in the second half and we have no answer for that. We simple fall flat.
So Crystal Palace's fitness was inferior to ours?

Simple case of momentum mate. Norwich got the goal early doors second half and kicked on. Disappointing we couldn't wrestle it back.

Happens like.

I'm so confused by this comment, mate.

You can't seriously think playing with three defensive midfielders when trying to win a game is a good thing?

Gibson, Cleverly and Barry have how many goals between them?
Gibson showed more attacking flair today than Kev did when he came on. Barry and Clev got forward as much than Ross did, had more chances too.

it's not about your FIFA 15 labels mate, it's about what they do on the pitch

Too often recently.

We need to win a back to back game.

When was the last time that happened?

The manager keeps talking about consistency, so it's good he recognises it. Consistency usually comes with some experience, but there's a lot of that. Howard, Barry, Cleverley, McCarthy, Kone, Baines, Lennon etc...
