I will try and defend any Everton player that becomes such an obvious scapegoat when we don't collect 3 points.

What a few seem to have forgotten is that we could of actually lost this game quite comfortably had it not been for a few decent saves from Howard. Then when you add in the fact that it was a defensive marking error for the goal we conceded, you have got to admit that it seems a little bit strange that yet again people are pointing fingers towards the goalkeeper. He is a clear scapegoat and so yes i will defend him from time to time. Thats not an obsession joseph.
Oh yes it is!:p

Agree with Blue4eva.. he's far from as bad as some make out.

He's poor at crosses, but a very good shot stopper, and generally very good positionally, saves a lot of points does Howard, every now and again fluffs his lines which invariably costs a goal because of his position, but overall is still a good keeper.
lollollollollollollol unbelievable

Worst keeper in the league. Stats back it up too...

He is mediocre. If you think he is the reason we are losing so many points though, then I suggest you take a look at the defense and the overall shape at the end of games. We allow teams back in because we don't keep the intensity up for the full 90; there is almost always a MASSIVE lull that costs us every game. While he has cost us in a couple of games, he is not the reason we are underperforming.

This.

He isn't great, we clearly need a new keeper but the stick he's been getting is ridiculous. Nowhere near as bad as everyone is making him out to be. As long as Martinez keeps picking him we should be supporting him, not venting criticism at every little thing he does.

If you score THREE away you should win!

Which stats? Did a bit of digging the only stats he's at or near the bottom of the league in are a reflection of our porous defense in front of him.

We've given up the second most shots on target...which not a reflection on him.

Stats like Save % (6th), Goals allowed per game (10th) suggest he's not the worst keeper in the league.

Any decent keeper would take anything in his 6 yard box and take command of his area.
So so false. Speaking in absolutes like that is foolish and wrong. Each ball in is different, and you have to account for traffic, pace of the cross, angle, etc. I watch several spurs matches, and there are multiple times when on corners or other crosses, Lloris doesn't come for a ball in and around his 6, and I think we can all agree he's a top keeper. Same goes for many others.

Should Howard have claimed the corner against Liverpool? No doubt. Should he have claimed the cross against Bournemouth, not a chance in heck any keeper gets to that. Same goes for Palace.
