Well Martinez just said he's not bringing anyone in in January and he doesn't like that the window opens when games are on so I assume it'll be a boring window where we get stuck with Howard until next summer at least.

Martinez often says one thing and does the complete opposite about transfers though mate

I get that but he really doesn't seem to be interested in the January window at all. Outside of a cheap1-3m signing or a loan. He's said there's no value and I think hes right. Few top class players move midseason and when they do it'll be at a huge premium

Not to mention Kiev in CL knockouts and he came off injured. Can't see him moving anywhere til the summer

Honestly mate i think If he moves we will get him, but with Surkis thats the big thing 'IF', a lot will depend i guess on what was agreed to when he signed this new contract etc and if he has a buy out or agreement with Kiev about conditions he can move under.

The injury 'apparently' is not a major one - looks like 2-4 weeks out and he in a post match interview came out and stated that he hopes the club and Surkis lets him move in January still

Ah fair enough, just have a feeling they won't agree to move him as they are in the CL.would've been more likely if they got kicked out

I think there will be very little action during the window. McGeady is the only player I think that the manager would be happy to lose.
I think that the bigger clubs will have learned from the Chelsea debacle of the summer and not come wading in with an ill thought out bid.
Maybe if they come in with a mega bid for our of our youngsters but that is unlikely to happen.

I think that we need the squad as big and as strong as it is and the manager is unlikely to let any player go without a replacement being lined up first.

If we sign anybody I think it will be promising youngsters for the academy who are within a year or two of the first team.

I think the summer will be active. Mirallas, Naismith, Hibbert and Pienaar all likely to leave. I think a new goalkeeper will be brought in and Leon Osman may leave to get more regular football in the last season or two of his career. Equally he could stay as part of the squad and I think the manager would want this.

Mate he resigned in after the transfer window shut to a 4-5 years deal with Kiev to ensure that they recieve a fee when he is sold, still been banging on about moving in January at every available presser he does though, will cost whoever wants him 15m + easily and more than he would have cost them in the summer. Can't see any clubs that passed on him in the summer suddenly becoming interested when it's arguably going to cost them more now

yeah i'm an idiot, totally forgot he signed a new contract. ha

Aye.... the only reason Tim Howard is in the team is because Bobby's his 'Mate' and he doesn't want to drop him because it will make them both sad.

Come on please.....
He's the best, most experienced Keeper we have at the Club. Aye, he's getting on and the wheels are falling off but until we can find a replacement, he's still our best keeper.
I didn't say he was playing because he was a mate
I was replying to someone who said he loves Howard

And as for him being the best at the club I think a lot of people would disagree with you on that one

Berahino wants to leave West Brom, West Brom want rid of Berahino, on a loan with a view to buy, a young, talented left sided attacker/striker. What's not to like?

I think it's a myth about no value in January mate

Just checking under Martinez's 2 January windows he's been in charge we brought in McGeady - who was a major long term target of Martinez and loaned in Traore, Lennon
Got rid of Eto'o, got rid of jelavic, got rid of Heitenga

So incoming he hasn't been that active with but he has shipped a fair few established players out there.

As for quality players not being available and fee's being not worth it.
a list of players we have bought in January
John Stones - 3m
Nikica Jelavic - 5.5m and for that seasons impact was immense and we made a profit on him
Darron Gibson - 1m
Seamus Coleman - 60k
Tim Howard - 2m
Stubbs - free
Beattie - 6m

loans
Pienaar
Donovan
Arteta

some good players there that had an impact for us, christ Lennon last season possibly saved us from a relegation fight

Yeah i agree, think Mirallas is a great player but realistically the first half decent club that can give him first team football he will jump at. It's not even the subs bench, it is the fact he isnt getting on the pitch at the minute!

Martinez will let him go IF we agree fee and there is proper replacement

Aye, because the majority of people on here can never be wrong...

Barry was finished last season, Kone was useless and would never do anything in an Everton Shirt, Cleverly and McCarthy weren't good enough when they signed, the list goes on.

Bobby sees Joel and Tim everyday in training and he picks Tim, that's good enough for me.

McGeady will be Mirallas' replacement, i.e. will take his place on the bench and play no part in games.

Nice 10m for Kenwright and co to pocket.

If he isnt getting on the pitch then i'd imagine Martinez would be a little bit more open than he was in the summer.

But yeah, i would hope selling mirallas led to a replacement coming in

Martinez wont let things go to the point where we would have no choice and we would inevitably weaken. This might be our trophy year and he knows it.
