Joel Robles

Thinking about the cup games we have in January, expect Joel to start next in the 2 cup games we have coming up, one thing that is a shame is the FA cup comes after the City game, when we go up against one of the best sides in the league, with a deadly striker, Joel wont have played for a month, then have 2 games in 4 days. The way the fixtures line up in my opinion gives him better match practice and preperation for the easier tie.

With the busy fixture list we have over Christmas Martinez, should find at least one league game to start Joel to prepare him for City, not for the point of dropping Howard, but to help Joel and the club. Be poor management from Roberto if he cant do that, be almost as bad as his one player for the cup and one for the league exclusive philosophy.

The sad thing is that if we reach a cup final I'm absolutely convinced Martinez would bring Howard in for it even if he hadn't played in any round previously. Give us some nonsense about wanting "strong characters on the pitch" or something like that.

Joel is not exactly a young kid anymore even by goalkeeper's standards. At 25 you'd think a player would be wanting to have a settled place at a club, not be constantly told he has a bright future and needs to be patient. If he asks to leave in January then I wouldn't blame him, he's been treated shoddily.

Imagine if Robles performed superbly in the semi final to get us through, only for Howard to be back in goal for the final and gift the RS the winning goal.

Wouldn't happen at any other club, but wouldn't put it past us.
