It's his biggest game ever, no one expected Wigan to beat City so he could afford to use his understudy keeper. Everyone knows this could well be his defining games for Everton, I can't see him gambling with his second choice.

I thought the two centre backs looked quite reticent to give him a back pass to be honest Joe. Stones was so reluctant he'd risked far to many passes inside to Barry and any decent team would have been onto that.

I noticed on corners everyone was cleared easily, we could play a higher line as the keeper tonight came for the ball without being have to be begged like when Tims in goal!

Robles gave Downing the whole left side of his goal to shoot at , accordingly, he adjusted his movement to his left and had that effort covered. Great save for me and it will do wonders for the lads confidence.

Martinez proved at Wigan he will start his 2nd keeper in the cup. Robles will start the last 2 or 3 games we play in it.

Al hab- sorry, Howard, will start in the league. Like it or not.

He proved himself a worthy understudy tonight. He'll be knocking on the door of the first team in about 2 years, of that I'm sure.

Howard has been a liability for a while now

We need a new keeper regardless, but I'd be just fine with Robles filling the vacancy while we line up a brand new #1

He could single handedly win us the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League, we'd start a thread on here after each game in each of those competitions, and Howard would still be in goal the following weekend.

I'm impressed Howard got us to the Champions League.
