I do believe he will be allowed leave in January.
He was drifting away from the team until the hattrick against Chelsea got him back into the team and now he is starting to drift again.

I think the manager may be more focused on keeping Deulofeu/Mirallas/Lennon involved and Barkley will only be left out if injured or suspended.

Naismith is unlikely to start many games going forward and will push for a move as he wants to play every week. I think the manager may allow him to leave for a bid similar to that offered for him last August.

Please don't get my hopes up mate. How we turned down £8 million pound sterling I'll never know. Charlie Austin and Jamie Vardy are both going for £12-15 million and we were linked with Yarmolenko for £15 million. Puts it all into perspective.

Although I do agree, he was mostly asking to play every week so he could make the Scottish team for the Euros...and that's not happening now . It may be a case of him seeing the season out if an ' adequate ' team doesn't come on for him.

He's very popular n South America, I hear

Naisy is not going anywhere. I love how some fans just want certain players to fail. He scores against all the top clubs and delivers when we need him.

Interesting point, this. I think Naismith is far better suited to starting games against the top clubs - I'm talking United, City, Chelsea (lol) and Arsenal.

Martinez variation of a 4-3-3 hasn't been used enough, IMO, and it's the one time we're I'm happy to see Rom out wide right. I think, against teams that we know we are going to play on the counter, Naismith's pressing and workrate do help - especially if he plays in that pocket of space on the edge of the area where he is most effective.

I stand by that, and like @davek said, he is good at breaking down stubborn defences - but only as an impact sub. Bring him on with 20 minutes to go against a West Brom/Stoke/Norwich etc. if we need to win a game and in all honesty I'd back him to get a goal as he is very good at finding space. It's when he starts against these sides that's the issue.

It's not about wanting him or any player to fail and I think very few want to see him leave.

Ultimately it's about what the player wants. The player himself said he would have accepted the move to Norwich as it would have meant a starting role every week. He wants regular football and it is increasingly obvious that his role at Everton at present is as an impact sub and I don't think that is enough for Naismith.

He is a more than useful squad member , but is that enough for him?

Still dont rate him as a footballer!

The funny thing is, despite looking better under martinez, we still don't play to his strengths enough to justify him. He runs around a lot, great, that's it. Chelsea was his game of his career and the subsequent starts afterwards which resulted in nothing again goes to show he isn't a first team player.

Off the bench, yeah great. I would imagine his wages are not high enough for this to be an issue so keeping him there on the bench is fine for me, he clearly can finish if nothing else. We can't get much better for the bench at the same price though so perhaps we reluctantly keep him on the basis of that? But even after chelsea surely he is 4-5th choice in any position anyway?

It's a bit of both mate.

But to take your point, I don't reckon he'll be happy being a bench player. He'd play every game at a Norwich type club. Tough one really.

The problem I have with the criticism of players like Naismith is that some of our fans are hypocritical. They are quite happy to justify ineffective games that Mirallas has because he shows flashes of brilliance, but when Naismith contributes little, they slaughter him for not being a brilliant player.

The reason Martinez picks players like Naismith, who at the end of the day is primarily a grafter who can weigh in with some important goals, is because while he's having a bad game, he's still putting the effort in and most likely providing some defensive cover or getting in the oppositions face. He's got the right attitude which managers love. That's why players like Milner have had such effective careers in this league.

Players like Mirallas for example, have talent in abundance, but when they're having a bad game, they go missing or sulk and contribute nothing.

The challenge Martinez faces with having more options now, is keeping all of those players happy like Deulofeu, Lennon, Mirallas and Naismith because they can all contribute in different ways.
