Tim Howard

It's certainly a big moment for Martinez.

At the end of the day, why stick by a keeper who, even if he does suddenly turn it around consistently (after us waiting about 50 games...), is surely not far from retirement? He's 36.

I'm all for persevering when young players make mistakes, but there's no up side to Howard's constant cock-ups.

I have to say I used to like Tim Howard, however in recent seasons, he proved to be a complete and utter liability. How many points have we lost due to his mistakes?. His stupid mistakes have become beyond a joke, he shouldn't be anywhere near the team. His mistake in the FA cup final perhaps cost us a trophy in 2009. We'd be here all day listing Tim Howards mistakes that he's made.

Ive started to think this is almost certainly to do with the USA market and possible future initiatives. Makes no sense otherwise. Surely there are ways of keeping Howards profile at the club and not playing him. Or look to links in other ways

The USA market couldn't care less about who Tim Howard plays for, though. Just like it doesn't care that Guzan plays at Villa, Geoff Cameron plays for Stoke, and half the national team plays in the Bundesliga.

He'll bounce back with a good game, but the jigs finally up with this feller. It has to be his last season, defo.

He's been an above average PL GK for us overall. But it's time to cut our losses now. He's under contract until 2018, but he has to be shipped out.

The thought of him playing next week , let alone until 2018 fills me with dread

Bouncing back will be one good game in four though!

I dont know how we got to that point. He was signed until the end of this season and it should have been left that way. He'd given no reason to extend it last season.
Very unusual decision, similar to keeping extending Hibbert's contract. Club's been run like an old boys club/charity at times and these lads are taking huge sums out for nil performance.

Howard, Osman, Hibbert, to an extent Pienaar. We need these players out and their wages handed to players who have a future.
