During a conversation with the wife's gran some years ago, she informed me we were heading for a very cold winter. Now, she being a wizened old country girl full of the ways of nature, I thought she would back it up by saying she had seen a hawthorn bloom or a robin with a flask or something, so I asked her, how does she know?

Her response, "my friend Elsie told me...."

Kin wools....

Times have changed. my Dad said to me that we were heading for a real bad winter and we could have artic type conditions. I asked him for his sources of this detailed information
Daily Mail - I reckon Elsie was a better source of information

Yes, but almost by definition though, Elsie just has to be a Daily Mail reader, it is their target audience.
