Tim Howard

I wan't sure if the criticism for Howard was a bit harsh, but after Danny Ings goal last week I have made up my mind. Absolute calamity should of came and collected or atleast challenged, instead of just standing on his line with his arms in the air like he was caught up in a hurricane.

Berahino's goal for WBA was awful from start to finish. Howard lashes the ball out to Funes Mori when it blatantly isn't on. Mori miscontrols and loses it, Barry air kicks, Jags and Browning stop running, Howard comes out halfway when he had all the time he wanted to pick it up, then tries to anticipate Berahino's finish and gets it all wrong. Just a really bad goal from start to finish.
You should watch the replay of that goal again, Mori was tackled after his second touch took the ball too far ahead of him.You can pin quite a few on Howard but that one was down to Mori trying to play it out of defense and getting caught out

The worst thing at the moment about TH , and he has always had this problem, but it is worsening as he gets older is his positioning, I fear he has developed a phobia of coming out for a corner when needed hence the derby game FOUR YARDS - only Ings to leap at , and he bottled it! Forget RB as he was nudged forwards - TH should have caught that ball at worst punched it clear!
He has improved this season in his general shot stopping, but I wonder is Tim Howard becoming a Coward?
if its one on one he uses his feet all the time - He never dives at a forwards feet like he used to?

You've made your opinion abundantly clear. You posted this same opinion countless times.

Yes well its in the posts above me again blaming RB ok!
If you do not like my opinion tough don't leave patronising post like that some posters say far more nasty things about TH than me!
Oh and I know you don't like my exclamation marks!lol
By the way two of our young promising youth Keepers doing well at Colwyn bay FC -

GOALKEEPER Russ Griffiths returns to the Seagulls after playing for England U20s onTuesday night.

The 19-year-old, who is on loan at the Bay from Everton, played in the 1-0 defeat to hosts Germany in the deciding final match of the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup tournament.

That made Germany the tournament winners, with England runners-up.

Russ got his first game after being on the subs bench for the wins against Holland and Turkey, with Colwyn Bay named as his club on the official team sheet.

He is expected to return to the Bay team on Saturday against Blyth Spartans in place of stand-in Louis Gray of Everton FC.

Butland - England Stoke
Karius - Germany Mainz
Scuffet - Italy Udinese

All very highly rated and arent at top clubs. Scuffet is only 18 but rated as the next best thing since Buffon emerged.

Perhaps stoke wouldnt want to sell but if we made a silly bid of £15-20mil for him id imagine he would want to come and hopefully stir the pot a little. He would want to play alongside our England internationals and his former U21 team mates.

Karius and Scuffet i think we could get for lower fees but would still be £10mil+ i think.

Have we got those funds?

Classic case of short young goal keeper with great reflexes who didn't need good positioning. See Given and (to less of an extent) Casillas. They pull off wonder saves in their youth with great reflexes that leave people thinking 'wow what a keeper'. As they get older the reflexes go and you're left with a keeper who has never needed to learn the art of positioning or commanding their area so cannot make up for the fact they can't keep shots out as well as they used to. You then start to see erratic decision making because they don't trust themselves to stay on their line and pull off a worldie, or you see them staying on their line thinking they can still pull off a worldie from a point blank header a yard away.

Keepers like Van Der Sar, Schmeicel, Southall, Buffon obviously had great stop shorting ability but never relied solely on it, so when their reflexes went they still had the positioning (and physical presence), plus the decision making to remain very very good keepers (if not the world class level they were at their peak). Keepers like Howard and Given, Casillas, probably Vorm, Valdes etc. fall off a cliff performance wise all of a sudden. Howard was a very decent keeper for us in his peak no question. He's gone past that how though (and has been for a few seasons) and in my opinion doesn't have the attributes to keep a top level of performance. No ones saying he was never a good keeper or that he hasn't been a good player for us, but this blind insistence that he's still one of the top keepers in the prem and is beyond reproach is baffling. So are arguments like 'well Joel is no better' 'other players were poor last season too' 'our defensive record is ok'. This is about improving Everton. A glaring massive improvement could be made by changing a keeper who is now past it. There's nothing malicious in saying that.

But RB is to blame first and foremost. TH shares in that blame, but RB is more at fault on that goal.

The exclamation point thing...I don't mind them, just not on every post! :P

Happy the youth guys are doing well.

My question to the masses would be how much are we as a club willing to pay for a keeper? Begovic went for 8 mil to be Chelsea's backup.

Butland cost Stoke 3.5 mil in January 2013. Probably would cost even more than Begovic now.

I personally think Tim Howard should pay for the new keeper.

Disagree with the RB point , but like the rest of the post.
