Future XI

I actually forgot Dowell somehow but yeh he should definitely be around the set up. Positions that worry me are keeper, left wing, right-back and striker the most. Not sure how much is in the links for Embolo/El Ghazi/Yarmz but hopefully by next summer we'll have reduced the squads age down by binning Howard, McGeady, Hibbert etc. but it's clearly very crucial we recruit/promote soon to replace these positions or the squad will be very thin and that's even before we consider selling a Stones.

Commentator last night mentioned that Everton youth player Smith(?) was 'training with the full England squad this week', so presumably we have yet another genius coming through. I fully expect us to win everything from 2018 onwards forever and Martinez to get a knighthood...or at least a Papal knighthood and the freedom of Walton.

This stinks of the Fifa Generation (n)

Not really, it's more about looking at the talent which is on the fringes of the first team squad or coming through the academy and making a guess as to who'll become first team regulars.

It is just a guess like, but it builds on the information in the other youth related threads and takes it a step further. All these kids are on our books, it's not as though someone's suggesting shelling out 20 million on a 16 year old from Paraguay with a fancy name.

TL;DR ?

Don't like the subject ? Read another thread :)

rodwell and gosling cm probably would have been a consistent shout

I did find this from 2010, I won't embarrass it's poster by naming him as I imagine he'd be no different to everyone else.
Teams are lucky to have one player a season come through the ranks, top clubs work on two or three,
Look at our youth coming through,
england youth teams = Barkley, Garbutt and Bidwell, Rodwell and Baxter.
rep ireland youth teams/senior= Duffy and Coleman.
Johan Hammer swiss u16.
Shkodran Mustafi a german youth international.
after we get him a permit Aras Abdulayev senior international level even at sixteen.
Bob Schepers (fingers crossed) dutch youth international.
Savic(kid on trail at the mo fingers crossed on that one too)swiss u17 striker.
Nathen Graig welsh U21.
And they are just the international players at the academy, nsiala and hallam hope both seeming to impress a lot of people.
There is Forshaw, Wallace and Hope Akpan all showing promise.
We are getting a great reputation all over Europe for the quality of our academy, and the influx of young talent from across the chanel is there to see.
Does our future not look great or am I just looking through rose tinted specks.

Where are they all now? :)

I think it shows projecting our youth teams into a future side is probably more than a little floored.

Flawed indeed but from the quoted 2010 post it doesn't half show you just how wrong we can be about the promise youth players show. We're all certain the Walsh's, Ledson's, Evan's of their generation will make it but that post proves we shouldn't always be so sure. Interesting.

2 full England and eire internationals and a german and world cup winner in Mustafi. Garbutt still around with a fair bit of potential in him, so not to bad.

Remember thinking that Akpan, Hallam and wallace were gonna make it oh well hindsights a wonderful thing.....

I'd like to think we would have bought players by then as well.

Bill applauds your misplaced optimism.
